Dear Ainia –

A sentence in your recent post
Quote:

When we view the Teledahn map that Sharper keeps in the Baron's office in Ae'gura, it appears that the parts of Teledahn we are familiar with are within the pink area, yet the sun drawn for the Age clearly has a much wider path than that of the solar disc.

piqued the interest of a D’ni Research Association member since, like Mr. LeDeay, our organization has long felt the Teledahn map from the City office to be inaccurate.

Larryf58 wrote:

There is a map that can be found which shows more of the world of Teledahn, but it is suspect because the known islands do not match the shapes of the ones shown on the map.

Her DRA team decided to send a camera up above Teledahn in a weather balloon. Neither the balloon nor the camera were seen again.
This was one of the last shots relayed to us before the signal was lost:

To orient yourself in this shot: the bayside walkway and spore-hopper/dispenser (“giant hairdryer”) can be seen in the upper left.

We tried to align this image with the pink targeted area of the Teledahn map, but found it to be a very poor fit.
However, the landmass area to its left proved to be an amazingly good fit.
With a little correction for the perspective from the balloon camera (it was never pointing straight down!), this is what we see:

Based on this alignment, we have to conclude that the Teledahn map is in fact very reasonably accurate.

This assessment also forces us to rethink our previous theory that the vast expanse of water seen from the walkway near the bucket hoist was a very large closed body of fresh water. If we now must trust the map as an accurate one, that area is clearly open to seawater. This in turn may mean that at some point, the green mass seen in that open water may transition from the freshwater algae we’ve posited in the Teledahn lagoons, to the saltwater seaweed Mr. LeDeay has stated.

Research continues, though slowly. Our organization cannot afford further losses like that camera.

A better example would have been Steam Workshop or their trading system. People can create their own things and depending on the game either give them/trade them out or sell them. Uru could have benefited from it, that would have meant more when the community was still a little more lively.

This is indeed very stupid. You can blame Cyan's MOUL-era server programmer for this nonsense.

That's not how it normally works, it's one of those glitches that form when the server needs to be reset.

No, that is how it functions normally. If you do not believe me, please read PubUtilLib/plVault/plVaultClientApi.cpp. Please remember that in the course of optimizing the H'uru client I rewrote a bit of that code. I understand how this bit functions.

If you really knew me, the one thing about me you would know is I don't lie!
I may get mixed up in my facts sometimes and when I do, I am also willing to admit to it.
I have no need or desire to show off to anyone here in the forum or MOUL,a game.
This is a game we are talking about here and not a real life changing impacting event.
Sure the content I have spoken about would be a great addition to find again.
And I am trying with what little time in my life that allows for it, to find it.

While I like to think I have a very good imagination, trust me, this is not something even I could have thought up.

When I have exhausted all the options of playing through what game CD's and saved file content I have and can find, then I will re-attach the remaining old hard drives I have found and look through them.
Although, too my bitter and recent discovery, the old Sony Viao Desktop computer I gave to my brother in-law that could have had that game content on it was since thrown out.

Also, I wouldn't rule out having gotten it as a download either. Back then though, I saved everything to the 3.5 144MB diskettes and again, they have all been thrown out!

Trust me, I really don't like being called a liar publically by anyone.
And so I am not without motivation to find some proof of the content I claimed.
However, back when I recall deleting so many of those pictures I had of the upper Gahreesen playable area, I couldn't have know it was unique content worth keeping. I just hope I saved something.

As to a posted suggestion to join the GoW's and 3D max because of my imagining, I have written an Age Story for Open Source MOUL,a called the Ages of Planet Dragonia with hand drawn Ages and detailed puzzle logic to all the Ages according to the Story theme. I have been building the website to share some of that unique hand drawn Age maps with notes content and have been buzy scanning it all into jpeg files to upload into my Google Picasa Web account.
However, right now I'm in the process of changing hosts and the existing site will be down while I rebuild the content again with the new hosts web building tools.

Yep! I am somewhat overwhelmed with taking on finding that old game content.
I have learned a lot from searching Ubisoft forum and other forums.
The helpful posts of others information and the feedback has been incredibly helpful to my sorting it all out better in my mind.
Thank you for putting my confusing and grammatically challenging way of posting and expressing my thoughts as unique logic.
I have managed to get clean installs to all of the game versions as posted in the thread here.
And I have been playing through them all very slowly as time allows.
Didn't really expect to find unique content in the first 2 game versions.
1. I have played thru Original: (UABM) Uru Ages Beyond Myst content.
2. The UABM & TO D’NI combined content.
I'm fairly sure the unique content was with game versions having the time ball puzzle in it.
3. The Path of the Shell first boxset game started. New Avatar
4. The Complete Chronicles PotS game started. New Avatar
Additionally: Been testing out loading old saved avatar game files into the games to see how they work and what I can find out.
Note: The game versions have different locations on the bookshelf for the bevin book and if I load my sav. Avatar file of one game into the other game, both bevin books appear.
If you try to use one or the other bevin book, the game locks up.
Even with the use of my old games notes, I am still having some trouble with getting the Ahnonay Age and The Watchers Sanctuary time ball puzzle done.
AND I am doing this between my MOUL,a Jahmen's Quests Series I have been building to completion and running in MOUL,a.
ALONG with building my Planet Dragonia website content for my Open Source Story Age I wrote and the Quest Series help page.
Spent a week of hours scanning all my Myst Game notes and map drawings into jpeg files and trying to sort them out in my Google Picasa web by creating individual albums for each of the Ages and create a link to eack on my website.
Then realized I also have the other single games game notes to scan with Ages, so . . .

AND I am in the middle of changing to anew Host to my my websites and have tnew hostso recreate the content for much of it because of the differences in tools and template formats.

Then there is MY REAL LIFE business of Real Estate, Apartment Management and ebay.

Neereus Post: Yes, you have the correct order of the games versions listed right.
NOTE: I edited my first post on Page 1 of the thread here with update info and explanations to what I found.

Hmmm... personally I would send the Squee up the tree with the rope, assuming Squees can be taught simple tasks, but I'm not Atrus.

I think Atrus would link back to Tomahna with his paper and ink and write in a subtle clause to the age (Spire/Haven linking chamber style) which would place a nontoxic ladder (or heck, even a new elevator) back on safe ground, ready to ascend into his treetop shack. Because if you can Write, well, there's really no excuse for mucking about in a swamp in the first place.

The work of the Devokan Trust seems to be coming to the notice of a wider public. As a result over the past month or so I have been conducting tours of the lands and regions of Restoration for different groups and individuals, even being interviewed on more than one occasion.

Both land and sea still hold surprises for me. This evening, I was diving in the sea of Satori, beneath the enigmatic pairs of metallic and ceramic structures (might they be some kind of communication tower?). A small area caught my eye...

The static photo does not do justice to the subtle shifts of light, colour and movement.

I know Cyan sent a small team of artist to New Mexico to gather "inspiration" for designing the Cleft. I remember seeing a photo in the Prima Official Strategy Guide of some people (I think Robyn and/or Rand was amongh them) out exploring a countryside that looked exactly like the area around the caldera. Have you thought about messaging someone from Cyan and asking where they went? I don't know if you'll get a response, but it's worth a shot.

Another blog post about Myst/Uru-style regions on OSgrid, complete with pictures:

...Today we de-Myst-ify Devokan Tao

VirtualChristine has put a lot of work into this, coming as an outsider to the Myst genre. Her enthusiasm is obvious. Please be gentle with any misunderstandings -- there is a lot of back history/story to both Myst/Uru and the various diasporas, not all of which is easily discovered or interpreted.

I find it interesting to see where more inworld documentation might help new explorers/visitors make sense of the different areas, and so add depth and meaning to the worlds.
