Another research road trip is in the works. I am aiming for the northwestern parts of New Mexico (the Four Corners area) and may even wander across the Colorado border and visit Mesa Verde; or Monument Valley in Arizona. Since we have an upcoming holiday here in the states (Memorial Day on Monday), a longer trip is within easy reach.

More later!!

If you look at the related photos, doesn't it look like the pellet cave?!?

It's always a few more features, isn't it?

My original plan was to hack open a few genuine *ki* devices and add some components, so that they'd sync with my linking booklets. But I don't want to rely on Gahreesen access. Second plan: buy a bunch of iPod Touches and hack them... yeah, too expensive.

What I've got now is an Arduino controller, glued right into the back cover of the booklet. It runs a D'ni transform grammar that integrates with the "live" ink self-representation of the book pages. Presto: a dynamic status display! Shows your current Age, instance, and (as a bonus) who created the place. (By cross-link to the booklet of the writer. Obviously, all me at this point, but I've done some testing with aliased booklets.)

This will also serve for contact info, messages, etc, when I get to that stage. Pulling out a "tablet" to check this stuff isn't as cool as looking at the back of your hand. Sorry! But mass manufacture is more important at this point.

In other news, I've decided that Goldspring isn't the best gathering point for a new community. Too small! I've started clearing out a neighborhood district on the Cavern wall. I think it's a few centuries older than Bevin or Kirel, and the lamps don't work, but it's a nice space and we can probably clear more buildings if it gets crowded.

I'll keep using Goldspring as my personal study, and a library of my in-progress experiments.

I'm still hoping to start inviting people downstairs in early June. It's just a question of getting the district tidied up, and then finishing a couple of solid Ages to demonstrate the model.

The Torus Age

Katran wrote a seemingly impossible torus-shaped Age. Yet Ahnonay is such an Age and clearly predates Katran’s work as a Writer. Ahnonay was written by Kadish so far as we know; could it be that Katran discovered some of Kadish’s works while she was in D’ni being tutored by Gehn? If so, this could have inspired her own attempt at Writing a torus Age. And could this be connected to those bizarre notes in her handwriting we see in the future vault? Is there a deeper connection between Katran and Kadish??
The Stranger's Story.

Or, How I came to the First World, and met the First Man.

Part I
__________________________

You want a story? A fireside story? Okay! This is the story of how I came to the First World, and met the First Man.

As you know, I am an Amad.. What does that mean? Well, it means I squint a lot.... and i see better in the dark, heh! But it also means I'm a lot older than I look. My Grampa was an Amad, as well. He was 92 when I was born, and when I got married some people thought he was my dad. Even now, when I see my own grandson, people sometimes think we're brothers.

But that doesn't matter.. what matters is, after my wife passed on, my children all grown with sons of their own, I didn't want to marry again. I went to sleep one night, wondering what I should do. I felt like an old man, trapped in a young man's body. Like I knew it was time for bed, but I wasn't tired... ready for work, but with no work to be done.

I had a dream about the Sacred Mountains.

Now.. Grampa told me we don't understand the story of the Sacred Mountains. It is said that people left the Third world, and as they fled, they took soil and rocks from the Sacred Mountains. They climbed into the sky, and they came to the Fourth World... they used that soil to rebuild the Sacred Mountains in the Fourth World. But that's not totally wrong, and it's not totally right. Grampa says the Sacred Mountains became lava that came up from below the ground and became solid mountains again. The Third World is under our feet. And even tho all the people there are dead, the World is still there, just below.

So when I dreamed of the Sacred Mountains, I knew I was seeing a volcano. It called me. And I was sure THAT volcano was real.. and under it, was the Third World. So, when I woke up, I knew what to do. I set out to find this volcano and go to the Third World.

But that's not what I found, my friends... No, I found the First World!!! How did I find it? Well, that's funny... I found it in a book!!! NO, literally... I opened the book, and THERE on the first page, was the First World.
The Further Adventures of Angelmyst:

After much hesitation I have decided to attempt to trace Ghen and Atrus's journey beginning at Cleft....with the help of a friend I was able to explore the base of the Caldron.....now I will share the beginning of those explorations with you, before I prepare to head down through the caves. When I leave I will be out of touch for the duration of my journey.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/405697_170171449813512_1436094851_n.jpg
too steep.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/968909_170171499813507_427032542_n.jpg
looks like an opening
https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/944150_170171363146854_1596724376_n.jpg
not accessible.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/971610_170171519813505_655994955_n.jpg
what is the wreckage pointing at????
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/487493_170171503146840_886459111_n.jpg
another opening????
Will prepare for a journey and check it out...for if it is an opening I will not want to come back and prepare.
This time I have the notes from Atrus' journey down, my relto book and the book from the ski lodge....and a lot of provisions. If I should get lost again I will have safe alternatives. A part of me, I believe is hoping to just find the AG book again....I want to go and see if the people have returned to the age...it has been a long time since I left them...even longer in accordance with their seasons and calendar. I do want to finish my original quest, to follow the path of Ghen and Atrus....I do not like to leave it unfinished.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/376847_170171436480180_1591959114_n.jpg
Why Keep out?? it is not an active volcano........I must explore.

Oh, sorry toffy!! I forgot greetings!!
Nice to see you, too.

And sorry again!!
Unfortunately there is not readily the person understanding Japanese.

By the way, Amateria seems to have an Orient-like atmosphere.
A sound called Amateria resembles the name of God appearing in the Japanese myth.
It is the Sun-Goddess.
Her name,
Amaterasuohmikami (天照大御神)
It is irreplaceable God symbolizing the Sun, Light, Affection, the Truth, order.

Her picture is seen here, but is a Japanese site. It is such God.
Yeah, with how busy we have been with surface-bound pursuits, we don't head into the cavern office so much anymore, though several of us do still visit D'ni on a semi-regular (if sparse) basis. We typically keep in touch with one another via Skype, but, despite the lack of any regular activity, a few of us still visit the forum frequently enough that if someone posts, it gets noticed, so you can easily get a hold of us there.

Speculation that Phil may have visited the age is likely to be OK, under RAWA's rules. Asserting that he did visit the age risks being contradicted at some later date.

You may find that getting access to texture assets you need isn't as hard as you think. As Adam noted several posts ago, Cyan are keen that there is "look and feel" consistency across into fan ages so I don't expect them to be particularly obstructive. Just maybe a bit slow to respond.

Hey all, It's me, back from the dead.

I need a favor, pleaseeeee.

I recently got a laptop with Windows 8 and I am working on setting up all my shortcuts using a very nice app called Pin More. I need someone to make me an icon for Uru Live, that is 310 x 150 and a smaller one that is 150 x 150, if at all possible.

Thanks everyone!

Maybe you can use this one for May...I was at a party in Eder Gira and caught this by jumping up on the pipes...

I'm still hopeful that Almak will come back and that all is well...
