Actually, people have had success by copying their dat and sfx directories from the old install folder to the new one. It may save you a lot of downloading.

I meant the main download, but anyway...

I've actually figured out that they WILL need to have a standalone client, because otherwise, how will the free players aka visitors enter? They can't go through GT since they won't have an account there...

Actually, people have had success by copying their dat and sfx directories from the old install folder to the new one. It may save you a lot of downloading.

As of right now, you can access the Uru Live launcher by the following method:

In the volumes\games\140000150\data subdirectory of GameTap in your Program files (or wherever you installed it), is an exe called UruLauncher.exe. Run it to run Uru Live.

I can make no guarantees that this will still still work after launch, however.

In future (after launch) will we HAVE to run it in GameTap or will we always be able to use the stand-alone client?

I may like gametap, but the flashy startup and the fact it takes a while to launch makes me hope we can open Myst Online outside of gametap.
