You need to read where someone is posting from Steve Fealinquen is in the Ukraine which I'm sure has quite a bit different telecommunications structure than the UK. What we take for granted is a bit more expensive in other countries. I'm just glad that we have some of our friends from that part of the world to visit with

This isn't very helpful I know, but I'm on 3.5 mb/s (i think), and uu is very fast (duh). I'd recommend the best you can afford, of course...although if you're going from dial-up to broadband anything will seem lightspeed fast

2GB a week? Over here I get 7GB a month. Grr...

I think of ADSL connection, but only for play and web serfing, not downloads. If I download 100Mb using 56K modem it lasts 5-6 hours and costs less then $1. If I try to use ADSL I spend near 30 min and it costs $5. If it's only 100Mb it's not so important. In other cases I have wait or use corporative network for private purposes.

Yeah. I'm on a 54 MBPS Wireless connection(not too reliable, but that's because our Lynksys router has issues...) and I could do 100MB in maybe 20 minutes.

Heh. I'm playing D'mala at 56K, with voice chat using. And (!) it's OK at most.
Few possible lags: long linking, troubles with other avvies' movement when they interfere with cones.

Well, GameTap requires 384k. Of course, Uru Live will be available separately from GameTap.

I've been playing D'mala with 256k with no problems.

The rule in these circumstances is the best you can afford. UU's been perfectly playable at 512 k for me.

Standard Broadband is 512k and is probably the slowest of the broadband speeds you want to get, but as with many things bigger is better as it means the updates will take far less time.
