Thank you Tai'lahr and TOOO
The KI-mail TOOO mentions were in my KI-Mail though I started my explorers in dec 07 and feb 08 repectively. Don't know if it was relayed by the messengers or greeters or if it was part of the DRC-info to all new explorers at the time. Seeing it rang a bell. I remember it well but assumed that it was an image in a notebook that I now must fail to find. Thank you for putting that straight.

I looked all through this thread, and I'm surprised no-one brought up this ki-mail we all got back in '07:

http://drcarch.thecitadel.nl/communication/ki-mail/pellet-analysis/

I'd like to also add (and I think I may have mentioned this before) that if the folks at Cyan are really serious about getting explorers to keep dropping pellets, it would be a good idea to send this ki-mail again, especially to the newbies. Better yet, post it on an imager somewhere, like say, Kirel or the GoG Hood - or maybe even in the Fun House, hint hint hint. (That's a hint, by the way.)

                                      Hi folks!
The question on my mind is; do we know or have proof of what are the best pellets to drop. Is it KI-score maximum that is best.
I've been browsing these extensive reading tips found here to see if there is a definite answer to that question. After 2h of reading I assumed that it is assumed that this is so. Is there a hint or a proof. Who measures the score into the KI, is it the DRC that wired the measurement into the KI?
Please point me to the right discussion if you know it.

Hi. Hope this is the right place to bring this up. I've been trying to produce pellets regularly since I got Er'cana facilities working. I have, however, taken a small break so my Bevin-mate and I can try out the Bahro recipe. By taking the markings on the control units as "recommended settings" and adjusting all the gauges as close to 50% as I could manage, I've been getting some very satisfactory pellet scores in the mid to high 800's. On the other hand, my Bevin-mate says she gets a stronger reaction from the algae with lower scoring pellets. For when I start steady production again, could anyone suggest settings that will give the best results, from the standpoint of helping the lighting project?

Well, I use the 30-30-30 recipe, and because of modding here and other things I usually only manage one batch a day at best these days. As soon as I drop my batch of pellets, I start the ovens again, and won't return until the next day or maybe even a week or more will pass before I get back to them. The batches consistenly return an average of around 976 per pellet. On the odd occasion I'll still get a 1000 point pellet, and the lowest I've ever got for a single pellet with that recipe, in 10 months of pellet dropping, is 952.
Here is a good recipe - im not sure why the recipes you all post are low scores but .....here are 2 you may or may not want to try and im not sure of the whole Health thing.....but

ok...here it is...fireworks = BAD - white glow = OK ---- orange glow AWESOME ---- for a 4 hour bake set all ovens at 30-30-30 (its worth the wait, this will yield approx a score of 988 per pellet.) this gives an orange glow that fills the the water surface

for a shorter bake time and lower pellet score (who wants that?) this is a 2 hour bake time....set ovens 1,2,3 at 19.5/50/50
and oven 4 set at 19.5 / 19.9 / 50 ------this will yiels a score of 600-650 (i don care for this one due to the lower score and since the whole PELLET thing is over...the scores in the bevins are just meerly a compitition now. so the 4 hours is a better way to go
if the meeter ever gets returned to the ferry terminal the pellets will play a bigger role. but for now its just a rewardless thing to do

The second recipe mentioned will actually score between 900-1000 which is considered the optimum score. If you get scores in the 600 range, then one of your settings is off by one tick either over or under where it should be. If one or more of the settings is off by even one tick, the entire batch's score will drop dramatically. Some very exhaustive tests were done during the GameTap era that proved this. If set correctly, this recipe will result in dramtically increased daily scores because of it's very low cook time, and optimum range.

If you hunt around, the same postings also proved pretty conclusively that there is absolutely no truth to the "degradation" theory. Once the batch is cooked, it remains in the the hopper until it is dropped. The score is set at the time it's cooked, and that score does not change. If a variable score is observed, this is normal, as the scores can, and will fluctuate as much as 100 points one way or the other, but the variance should be between 900 and 1000, with a mean somewhere around 966 or so (I averaged 972 when I ran a large number of batches over several days totally over 1,000,000 points). Also, the cook time is actually a few minutes less than two hours (I think i recall it being 1:57, but I might be off by a minute). Not that it matters, but if someone was to min/max a set of batches, they might eek out another batch within a given timeframe because of those few extra minutes.

I'm not really good at math but 4 hours baking time to yield 5 pellets at 1000 each is 5000
2 hours baking to yield 5 pellets at 900 is 4500 times two = 9000
