The original question was answered by RAWA back on page 5 of this thread. The recent events which seemingly prompted resurrection of this thread are being investigated.

I expect whoever did this was bored and playing with their MOULagain toys, just like the Bahro from way back.

Believe me, if someone wanted to be disruptive they could do much worse than fly people around and mess with the fog.

Okay, due to poor timing, I missed getting into the City, and missed the spectacle. (And I had my FRAPS ready and waiting!)

But, from what I've read, the question has to be asked: maybe this time the "hack" was benign, but what about next time?

Also, what if this is someone's way of saying, "We think your game sux, so we're gonna destroy it out of spite."?

whereas i think it probably wouldnt do any real lasting harm....i can't imagine it would help either....so i said yes, cause it prob shouldnt be done.

YES, it is their game and they can do whatever they want. The issue is what they should release in order to gain the most from whatever they release. Stop trying to shut people up.

And Cyan can release whatever they want of the code. It is their game. That has been the fact from the start.

In more ways than Uru will be. >.>

Sure, we get to use the areas of the game.. but.. THEY get all the models and textures... a bigger boon. >.>

Also, if /we/ got all the models and textures, like Ryzom is releasing, we'd have all the areas, anyways, as Uru does things differently. =)

EDIT3: note that the Free Software Foundation even recognises Ryzom as Free Software (Not freeware, the two are very different things, and, also not necessarily free-of-charge. Free Software is Libre, not Gratis, (Free-As-In-Speech, rather than Free-As-In-Beer)), and, thus, Open Source. I can't think of better evidence of being open source. >.>
