Shorah, Fellow Explorers

I am honored to once again be part of the opening ceremonies for the Re-re (re - and re!) opening of the Cavern - aka MOULa (a)? With me will be Healers from the Ages and Around the Metaverse to help remember history and fellow explorers that have left us in ages past. Though we be scattered our spirits are ever connected, quietly collaborating.

I will be streaming music and voice on
Friday, February 6
from appr. 14:20 KI time, after the official opening introduction to 16:00 KI time
I invite you to join me for a remembering and reuniting event in the Watchers' Pub.
Music and voice on Shoutcast stream: Radio GoH aka rel.to/gohealradio

See the official Anniversary thread for the full schedule of the weekend.
viewtopic.php?f=66&t=27714

I would also like to invite you to become involved in the remembrance. You can do one of two things:

1. Post your thoughts to this thread, pm me, or email me at ghaelen at geemail dot com. A short paragraph is a good length. I'll read them during the ceremony (and others can read them, too!)

2. Record an mp3 (up to two minutes long) and I'll play it on the air. I know many of you are versed in this, and you might like to get creative. Just be sure we can hear you! PM or email me if you'd like to do this so I can get the file from you.

3. There will be some segments of the memorial that are instrumental, and you can share your memories in chat during those times. I will try to keep a chat log, and hope others will, too.

A short part of the remebrance will be some history from the closing and reopening of the cavern between 2008 and 2010. It is a good story - if you would like to share your story of that time please contact me for that as well.

Since 2010 the Healer's have been involved in the Anniversary Celebration, even as it has changed and grown and lengthened and impressive activities have been added in recent years. I would like to thank M.a.x.2.0 for organizing this year's event thread, and also thanks to those saw Janeerah's request and got some activities together. Thanks always to Tai'lahr for pulling me back into the loop when I need to get in it.

For some history about the Anniversary Celebration and the Healer's part in it, read these threads (there are also links to more history):

2012: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=25395 2011 is in there, too.

I'm relatively new to the game, so I can't speak to having lost fellow players, but I know that there are some (players) who have passed, and thought this poem might be appropriate.

A Thousand Winds by Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Thanks janaba1 :)

I've recorded it using my laptop mic, but it's a .wma format - not sure if that would work for you ghaelen? (I'll also see if I can convert it to an .mp3 file). It's about 1min long. Let me know if you'd prefer to have an audio recording of it.

Thx

Mir

Beautiful poem!

Mir, you can email the .wma if it isn't larger than 5mb. If it is, pm me and I'll give you another way to send it. Don't worry about converting. I can do that on my end.

Got it - sounds good. Thanks to Jan for the conversion.

It is in the playlist and ready for us all to listen :)

Beautiful, just beautiful! Thank you, Mir. Here's one that I think is special as well.

Gone From My Sight by Henry Van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts
for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come
to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her
load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone
at my side says, "There, she is gone!"
There are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad
shout;
"Her she comes!"

This is very nice, Sky. So true, too.

Would you like this read during the memorial?

OK, Sky - I think I have a spot for it :)

FYI, there is a nice crowd in the Watcher's Pub already. Wonderful to see everyone. The Opening Ceremonies will start in about 45 minutes, the Remembrance in about an hour.

Leader music on Radio KGOH is playing if you want to tune in.

Thank you, Ghaelen for a wonderfully moving presentation. Thank you to Sky & Donahoo for their beautiful readings. It was a lovely event and so great to see so many familiar names there.
