This is not a bug.

When you first enter the room, all lights are off. When you press the button, the light comes on. If you immediately press the button again, the lights go out and the room returns to darkness. However, if you wait a while (I haven't timed this myself, but somewhere around 1-2 minutes) and THEN turn off the lights, the blue symbols will appear.

The symbols on the floor are (supposedly) made of a florescent material. Florescent things need to "soak up" light for a period of time before they will glow.

This puzzle has always been this way in every incarnation of Uru. You need to leave the light on for a certain amount of time before the symbols will glow.

That's the interesting (and sometimes infuriating!) thing about Myst and Uru puzzles. I don't know how many times I've solved a puzzle initially... not quite realizing everything I did to solve it. Then, I come back later, and it doesn't work! (Or at least, doesn't seem to work...)

"I know I solved this before! Why doesn't it work?! Argh!!"

That's way we pay to play... The frustration is simply a free bonus.

I had the same problem. The first couple times I had solved the puzzle I didn't realize that leaving the lights on for a certain amount of time was necessary. It was just one of those things I did accidentally. When I tried to solve the puzzle this time in Uru Live I couldn't get it to work, and I even submitted a bug report about it.

Anyway, I guess I'm not the only one who made that mistake Smile

Expect more of the same when Er'cana is released. 15 minutes or so for that one.

Ahhhaaa!! Noooow that makes sense. The first time I played, I hit the button, didn't know what it was supposed to do, so I walked around the perimeter of the room a while, looking around. I still couldn't figure it out, so I went back and hit the button again (more in frustration- take that stupid button!). Magically, the blue lights appeared. So I inferred that walking around the perimeter of the room must have set off some sensor or something (yeah, dumb, I know).

Well, when I played the second time, and because I thought I knew what to do, I ran around the perimeter of the room instead of walking, but the button didn't seem to work. I sat around thinking, got frustrated, so I smacked the button again, and low and behold if it worked. So then I start thinking that the button only works when you get rough with it.

So, I logged it in as one of those puzzles that I have no idea how I solved them, but just grateful I did.
