Post Posted: Sun Feb 11, 2007 9:46 pm — Post subject: Need help on the room with 6 pressable slabs in the floor...

Hi peeps Smile

Is there anyone out there who would be able to shed some light on a particular part of this game! It is the room with the 6 slabs in the floor, and many small rocks that you can push around. I've found that if you push a rock onto a slab it will depress. There are also 2 doors which will not open. I can only assume that the slabs must be pressed in a particular order, or a select few held down for the doors to open into the next room?!! Confused

I've spent a long time thinking and trying things out but it's totally flumoxed me! Please help!!

Thanks in advance!

Take a look around the age - the clues are all there Wink.

In particular, there is a map numbering the pressure plates.

It is in Sharper's office

The numbers are in D'ni, which you'll need to be able to read.

D'ni Numbers - If you cannot read D'ni numbers, take a look at some of the books in your Relto...

...they have numbered pages...

Once you know which plate is which, try and work out which to press. What can you see the other side of the closed gates?

See the levers? Why are some up and some down? Guess Razz

Ask for more help if you need it Wink.

Hi Narbar! Here are my two cents:
Have you been in the room with the aquarium? You need a clue in there.
After you have found it, if you have never played one of the Myst games before, you might need to look at the the lone book on the shelf on the right side of your relto hut.
And lastly, look through the doors you can't open and use what you see through one of them for the final information you will need.

Last resort spoiler/solution (also very functional, especially since I'm using only one spoiler so you don't have to keep clicking):

You need to weigh down the two pressure plates nearest the two closed doors (not the cavern you entered from). Weigh down three with stones, and stand on one of the ones closest to one of the closed doorways - either doorway is fine. Press Caps Lock or hold shift, aim towards the doorway, and then run for it! This way you will not need to fiddle with the levers and such in the room you enter, and thus have to figure out the puzzle all over again

Thanks Islander, Wafna and Ed Oscuro - I'll have another good look around.... again!.... before I take a peek at any actual answers! I may very well come back and pick your brains again! I've played all the other ones so far, read the 3 D'ni books in the series and love the lot! Talk about hooked! hehe! Razz

By the way, there are 7 pressure plates in the Teledahn prison (not 6). Smile

Have fun!

Thanks for your post dadguy!

I had another look around yesterday night - found a couple of rooms that I didn't know were there - also a floor plan of that prison! I can't believe that I took for granted there were 6 (why did I count 6 in the first place!) - talk about kicking myself!! lol! Laughing

Still haven't solved the door opening but will be looking again tonight!

Catch you again

There is a BRAND NEW Myst Online Walkthrough located at the GoG Website (thanks, Lial!) that includes excellent image support.

http://www.guildofgreeters.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=82&Itemid=39

About a thrid of the way through she notes the map of the prison floor (7 plates) and about 2/3s of the way through she notes how you determine which plates need "weighting".

If you preferr to struggle through on your own, don't read this document, but I found it excellent!
