The spec list says Mac OS 10.4.8 with the Intel chips are "currently" supported. Does this mean that there are plans to support PPC and older versions of OSX? If so, any time frame on that or should we not expect it to ever happen?

Much thanks.

The Mac Uru client uses a technology that works only on i686 (Intel) compatible CPUs. The Mac client is the ordinary Windows client wrapped in an additional layer that makes it compatible with Mac OS X. This layer is not designed to emulate an Intel CPU on PPC architecture.

Do you have Vista installed on your MacBook Pro? How did the install go? Which version of Vista is it that you have on the Mac?

Prior to Vista's official release I was running RC1 of the beta and it ran beautiful on my Core Duo iMac. It's amazing how well that OS runs on a Mac. I actually like Vista though. It has all the features Panther had, but it really is the best MS OS as far as being stable and secure. Too bad I'm stuck using XP in Boot Camp right now Sad

Did you have any problems with the Boot Camp drivers when you installed Vista? I'd like to give it a try but I had read there were so many issues.... Confused

Well the Boot Camp drivers appeared to install fine until the end. I did get an error at the end of the install but it still let me finish. I never could get it to see my NIC. I had to use Vista wireless. It picked up my audio and the keybaord drivers fine. I did have issues with the ATI drivers for my video card. I just went to ATI's site and installed the Windows drivers from there and it was fine. Other than that Vista runs beautiful. Now I haven't tried it with Gametap or Uru yet. I'm now running XP through my Boot Camp partition to run Uru.

i dont recommend installing vista on boot camp until apple releases vista drivers, especially for the trackpad (no scrolling or tap-click) and wifi. bluetooth? forget it.

plus uru is very spazzy. vista (as far as i can tell) is just xp with a layer of polish. polish that makes it a bit less stable than it was before. so actually, i dont recommend vista at all, on a mac or not. im actually considering reinstalling xp so i can run uru without the hassle of vista... Confused

oh and this is a legal copy of vista ultimate (the best version), so don't pass me off as a cheapskate who bought home edition just so i could bash it Wink

I ran Vista RC1 fine under Boot Camp. It didn't see my NIC and I had to download ATI's official drivers off of the ATI site, but everything else workd. Wifi worked as well as bluetooth. It also saw my Mac keyboard (including the volume controls and the eject button) just fine. Yes Apple drivers would be great for Vista, but for those who just want it now it will work. If the beta works I don't see why the retail copy won't. Also, I used Vista before I started playing Uru so I don't know how well that will work.

To copy info from other thread: mystonline.com just changed their banner to say "...bringing Myst Online to the Mac platform for the first time on March 20th."

And to again repeat info from the other thread (sorry if I'm overdoing this): I've updated my newcomer guide (see link below) to include information on getting the Mac client.

Note in particular that if you already have a Gametap account, you can download the Mac client for no additional cost. You can then log into your existing account, and play the same avatars on Mac or Windows at whim.
