Post Posted: Thu Mar 08, 2007 11:19 pm — Post subject: Yeesha Effect MUST end

Let things progress at their own pace. What's good once isn't necessarily good a million times. Let things progress at their own pace.

There were perfectly good reasons why holding a sit-in about Yeesha was a good idea. Believe it or not, one of them was NOT as a demand that we see some more Yeesha around here. The fact that we did was but a pleasant suprise.

In other words, hold sit-ins for their own sake, not in the intent of forcing Cyan's hand.

The Yeesha Effect that has been spawned MUST end, or we'll end up not seeing the forest for the trees.

This post inspired by Zardoz.

Rolling Eyes I get the feeling sit-ins are not the way to really move the story along.

The truly sad thing is. URU Live is going on three weeks and people are "STARVED" for content. Lets do a sit-in. Geez....I think I should have a sit-in to boycott sit-ins. Thanks a ton for crashin the city. Was fun to visit for a bit. I think I will do a sit in and see If I can demand new game contect in the form of a McDonalds in my Relto. Perhaps Ronald himself will apprear if i have a bunch of avies over while we eat fries.

I think what we need to do is find other things to do, too... this isn't to say that gatherings are bad. Heck, I should be the LAST person to say anything like this. Wink

But - I dunno, Ireenquench said my thoughts REALLY well over on the DRC forums, here: http://forums.drcsite.org/viewtopic.php?p=31483#31483 Especially about chains of events, and how we can maintain them or break them.

It's absolutely understandable that people will flock to the gathering/response idea - I mean, it worked for us once (well, twice if you count Nick and Sharper, hail the 'stache Laughing) and they can be a lot of fun. But one thing I'd personally love to see is gatherings just to hang out and have a good time - topical get-togethers for explorer fun.

THAT is what I like about the gatherings the most, and I don't want that facet to get shunted away. But doing the same thing over and over gets old for everyone, I think.

We should get creative. >D We poked the story with a stick and it poked back... but instead of poking it again over and over and over and over, maybe we should figure out how to tickle it.

Um.

That analogy didn't work, but you get the idea?

Would you rather have sit-ins or walkouts?

Please note that we've not stirred the Yeesha pot again yet. 14th March is our next attempt. Hopefully we'll get speech (from Yeesha), assuming Yeesha bothers at all. There are no guarantees. I think creative is right. We've now had a response from GreyDragon about sit-ins. What's next?

As usual, people can entirely miss the point. Rolling Eyes

My point being: If you start imposing too many restrictions on explorers, they will leave. In addition, restrictions put on explorers by OTHER EXPLORERS are just ridiculous and are likely to just foment more unrest. I can tell you for certain if another player (or even a group of them) tells me I can't or shouldn't do something, that will probably make me quite a bit more likely to do it. I know there are a number of others around here who feel the same way.

You know the saying "If you build it, they will come" is a good one. But the flipside of that is "If you bore them, they will leave."

People are just trying to liven things up, let them have their sit-ins!

Frankly I can't see the harm in the sit-ins. If they don't work, fine. If they do, that's cool. Either way they're fun to be a part of.

Wow, that was a disturbing, yet effective, analogy Wink

I agree, but Unfortunately, it seems the only way to get Cyan's attention.

But tonight I came up with what I think to be a great Idea. Why not, instead of doing all these sit-ins, we make one Enormous Forum Post (I'll start one right after this Reply, called "What we want from URU: An immense Suggestion list for Cyan") In which we state everything and anything we want from URU, content and story wise, instead of having them waste employees' time unnecessarily to go visit each of these sit-ins. And after Cyan sees all of these, they can just print off a copy of this and give it to the creative Directors of MO:UL and say "This is what they want, we know what we have planned, lets collaborate these Ideas and get new content out". Because URU was built, it was bloody sold to Turner Co., with this idea of "well, the players are going to shape the story and become an essentail part to how the game progresses" And How are we shaping the Game?

By Hosting Bloody Sit-ins!

If we can't collaborate with Cyan and develop the Story, we should all expect another message from Dr. Kodama saying that the last group leaves at 5PM. We should have a "Re-launch", in which Cyan establishes what we've wanted from URU, takes its pick and slowly progresses the story based on those few choices and what they've had planned.

I really do hope that people will help me with this endeavor.

EDIT: Link to the Suggestion Post: http://www.mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7865

Sad /me is afraid of the "bloody sit-ins"

The possible deal between Sharper and DZS (D'ni Zoo-stuffs Society) is a great idea. I can't wait to see where it goes.
