Really, this could be construed as important. There ought to be a representative body to voice the concerns of those who want to get involved with guild work. Moreso, the guilds will be having an ever greater role in Uru, so setting up the representative body of guild-goers as well as the non-aligned is of crucial importance.

A panel in the forums could gather information about what people think about a Guild of Guilds, and these will no doubt hold a caucus in the cavern to relay the information. Logs will be kept of the meeting, and will be added to an archives, viewable from the GoG Bevin viewscreen. Representatives will be elected and appointed per the tradition set forth in the forum discussion. Decisions and procedures made will be deliberated by a subcommittee before review by the five representatives from the other....

I think I accidentally looped back on myself and actually started thinking about how it would work. Obviously, I can't be trusted with a bureaucratic position of such... power. But I do like the idea of lobbying with umbrellas, as the Minkata suns are oppressing me.

This is your Unelected Dictator talking (I would link you to the many threads in the DRC Liaison Election Discussion forums that establish my credentials, but the stupid DRC has banned access to that forum in a futile attempt to prevent me from re-asserting my power).

There will be no Guild of Guilds. I am in control. There will be only one representative, only one vote: Me. Mine. I say who gets to wear what t-shirt. I am the Grandest Poobah who has ever Poobahed. I am the Alpha and the Omega, all wrapped up into one. I am the Bomb.

My proclamations are as follow:
  1. Members of the the Guild of Greeters will speak only in riddles, the answers to which have evaded us for so long.
  2. Members of the Guild of Maintainers will ensure that all fire marbles in all neighborhoods and Reltos are properly extinguished at night. They have my permission to pummel anyone found in violation of this proclamation with their feet.
  3. Members of the Guild of Writers will be divided into fourteen classes, depending on their ability to list all instances of Garohevtee. Inability to list any instances will earn a member the rank of Roadkill.
  4. Members of the Guild of Messengers will be required to memorize Robert's Rules of Order . . . backwards. Failure to accomplish this feat by next Wednesday will consign that member to the Low Council of Morse Code Criers.
These are the Guild Rules. They are as good as they get, so get used to them.

Just clean up after yourself when you're done.

Pfft. Everybody knows the Guildmaster of the Guild of Guilds is the guy who makes the most posts about other posts with links to posts about the Guild of Guilds.

Ah, Zardoz, you missed the ferry to K'veer. You can't even find your way to a roadmap without a map. You left out the Cartographers! This is exactly why we need those self-seeking umbrellas for the Council Counsellors to ride in: otherwise they'll actually get to the meeting site and really mess up the works.

By the way... I'm all in favor of you being the dictator. Fine. You can have it. That leaves me free to just have fun! Pbtbtbtbt!

I can hardly mention who from whoville, but you will have one very stubborn contender, who says she has more experience in self-servation than you do Zardoz.

I am not sure what will happen, but she is preparing for cat herding fight.
I guess it all depends on how bad you want the dictatorship, or how many connections you use to get it. I don't think the contender has any. It could be an advantage for you, if you start now and call for a Guild of Guilds vote asap.

**Voting early may be the best option for anyone wanting to control the influx of new ideas or issues related to guild forming.

Good luck and speed.

Edit - she does have her own chart. Charts are very popular these days.

ooops, voting won't be necessary will it? Nice efficiency.

I will let the contender know.

That's because they were not on my mental map - their own fault, really. Phfffft! What kind of Guild fails to make a map of its own Dictator's brain? Of course, I do wear one of these, so maybe that explains things . . .

We should be able to incorporate that AFDB into the Guild of Guilds Official Umbrella. I do think it would be better made from copper, with a ground tail.

Ahvreeeeee, I like your idea of electing a dictator. The problem is the extant dictator may not take kindly to it, and might just go have a discussion with Guido Fettuccine about a fitting session for new overshoes. I say we just give the job to Zardoz. He wants it. Isn't that the main qualification for politicans nowadays?

The key word in the phrase "Unelected Dictator" is Unelected, not Dictator. As soon as you get popular enough to warrant election, all the fun of being Dictator vanishes. Dictator means you never have to say you were elected.

As punishment for even suggesting this, Lord Chaos, I hereby dictate you to clean all the dunnies in D'ni. When you are dun, you will then be elected Sub-Grand Poobah of the Dunny Brigade Guild.

Are you dunny ravin yet, Zardoz? Some dictator you are. Yer first act is one or retribution against one of the Cavern's most popular avatars. I have at least one or two friends down there, so long as I keep handing out cookies. They won't stand for this. Prepare to storm the ramparts, folk!

And now I'm flush with success in my new endeavor, even though it was rather draining at first.

Oh mighty Zardoz, I am ready for your tests I have studied Roberts Rules of Order backwards and sideways.

To Lord Chaos: Bring it on, Cookie-Boy! I will dictate your minions to dust, and pummel them with my fruitcake, which is the real location of all that missing matter you read about in the newspaper and which has evaded us for so long.

To Stevecrox: Media, schmedia. Your cleverness, however, elevates you to the Ninth Level of Poobahness: You are now Chief Scribner of the Not-So-Low Council of Grovelers.

. . . . so as you can see, having guilds is a silly idea, drummed up by . . . ah . . . who knows. Who the heck started all this anyway!

As I mentioned in one of my few and far between postings a while ago, this stuff is just to keep us busy while Cyan scrambles to get us new content. This is no longer continuing to be a game, it has morphed into something else.

The guilds will create heirarchy, there are many power-hungry players. One-up-manship, we're better than you, will be their attitude. If you're not with us, then you're against us. We will become divided.

Yeesha did say, "sides will be chosen"... "a war is coming".

(I'm really not sure how much longer I can stick with this "game".)
