I would agree, but it seems like most people are of the opinion that all major decisions concerning the Guild of Writers should be held on our own forums. In order to mobilize people, we'll need to have a forum simply because that opinion is widely held.

I voted for the guildofwriters.com because it lacks Flash. :)

GreyWolf, I put up a Flash page at http://www.writers-guild.org because it was just a placeholder, and thought a little animation'd be at least slightly entertaining for the single page it is. It was my first-ever attempt at Flash work.

The site itself will not be Flash-based.

You can change your vote now.

Can't change vote. ;) There are still options missing:
3rd option: Abolish the guilds already. (I'm for this one.)
4th option: Make a Guild subforum here. (This will work, too.)
;)

(I'm not saying your animation was bad, I just hate Flash period.)

I'm in agreement with both Belford and Ian Atrus' comments.

Yep, it'd be great to spread the moderation duties of a forum around, and not have power centralized in any one person's or faction's hands. Not sure if it would work to put forums in the hands of another Guild, since details of Age Building teams may be in some members-only areas of the forums (or may not, depending on group consensus).

And yep, diffusing our focus at this indeterminate stage with yet another forum is counterproductive. Once the next episode is complete, everyone hopes that all the nebulous issues surrounding the Guilds will be made clear. At that point in time, it's possible that independent forums will be made completely redundant by something that Cyan puts in place.

Nevertheless, I'd been working on setting up a forum for this contingency.
I know that both the site and the draft-version forums I've roughed in are awkward, in need of streamlining and maybe even ugly. But these cosmetic matters are easily tuned, and I hope that their functionality can be improved over time as our community pitches in with their ideas and creativity. There are introductory and disclaimer pages prefacing almost everything, in which I've tried to incorporate some of your ideas here.

In hopes that it's all of some eventual use for all of us:

I'm voting for guildofwriters.com

A.) no flash and a more promising appearance
B.) I don't know who runs writers-guild.net

*shrugs*

Forums are ready for the guildofwriters.com site; but we aren't launching until the poll closes (as agreed during the debate log with Robert).

Hopefully we should be able to launch tomorrow. :)

The poll has finished, and the home of the preliminary/unofficial Guild of Writers will be at guildofwriters.com. Look for an announcement once it is fully set up.

Thanks to everyone that participated!
