Kermit knows.

To the tune of Rainbow Connection:
Why are there so many books in Phil's Relto
And Why are there so few in mine.
Yeesha's a Writer, and maybe the Grower,
but Bahro aren't easy to find.
They're at war now and some choose to believe it,
And Watson says there's no end in D'ni
But some day we'll find it, the war's resolution
The Bahro, the Writers and me.

Who said that only Cyan could amuse me
when I logged in my avatar?
Somebody posted that, but I don't believe it.
Echo has the best story so far.
What's so impressive that keeps us so captive?
Even when there's no DRC.
Someday we'll grasp it, there's more than just canon
There's stories, ages and J.D.

I was in the desert
And I have heard voices.
I've heard Uru calling my name.
Who are the writers and who are explorers?
I think that they're one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's someplace that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll build it, the new D'ni nation,
Explorers, and dreamers, and me.

I think it's one thing to run ads for games later than intended, which accounts for out-of-date information... but the ad in question shows an image of Noloben, which doesn't appear in any game on GameTap, past or present. It's mostly odd.

One possible non-season-two non-Myst-V explanation is that someone on the GameTap side might've come across some pre-Myst-V concept art for Noloben and thought it was Ahnonay and used it in the commercial. The two do have a similar "look" to them in that area.

Hmm, true, macnbc. But your hope-dampening theory still has issues. Smile

Cyan would not have provided GameTap with Myst V footage unless at the very least GameTap was planning on bringing Myst V onto their service.

I've seen many comments about the blocked sky (where I agree, that's a style effect for the advertisement), but little to no comments about the water. The water looks different than in Myst V. It doesn't look as good. That leads me to believe this is an image of Noloben in Uru.

So, even assuming that an error occurred in GameTap's advertising group, what we have here is evidence that Cyan showed GameTap a part of Noloben running in the Uru engine.

I agree Marten. All signs lead to the conclusion that this video was taken in Uru either in the testing phase of the age back in 2003 or it could be a test version of the Myst 5 one or a new version entirely again.

I hope it isn't a mistake in marketing but nonetheless it is interesting. Wink

Blade
Thank you, even with my sore throat I had to sing it. I have always loved Rainbow connection. Your words were perfect.

If you're going by the video that I posted on YouTube it was only 160x100. The sky doesn't look blocky in the original commercial. Smile (The water definitely looks different from the M5 version in the original ad, though.)

Rainbow Connection, by Kermit the Frog

This is for Ethan and any others whom might not know this wonderful little diddy. It's worth playing while reading along with Blade's clever words.

I did not say blocky. I said blocked, meaning "Masked out."
