I don't get why everyone seems to expect the lake to brighten. What's to say that it doesn't darken first, or get blotchy? I can see where localized colonies of the algae go dormant as they become satiated with the pellet food. Perhaps the effect will only be noticeable in our personal silos months before the lake shows any effect at all. That being said; I'm not so sure I can get behind a movement that will bring 10 or 15 hours of 'night' to the cavern.

Because we were told that was the concept / intent, long before the implementation. The details are in the "What power do you want (collectively)?" thread of RAWA's on the DRC site.

I thought the concept/intent was to return the algae to its original cycle. Implies it will be brighter sometimes; doesn't mean it won't get darker first.

Laxman wants to experiment? Okay, what Laxman does behind closed doors is his own business, as long as he... oh... wrong kind of experimenting... ahem

Don't you think it's dark enough to start with already? The algae have been starved of nutrients for several hundred years. That's why it's dark and we are feeding them pellets.

This is an excellent line of questioning: I had always assumed that we are seeing the D'ni "night," right now, with the algae dormant.

Doesn't make it true. Cyan has surprised us before. Smile

I will soon post a backlog of seventeen days' holiday lake data displayed on Pellet Points and other participating hood imagers. To allow everyone ample time to get the numbers, three days of data will be posted per day until we are caught up with the daily numbers.

By the way, 5,422,252 points have been posted to the Pellet Points hood by selfless explorers in support of our efforts to promote the lake project and communication about it. Thank you all.

Once again, thanks to Erik for producing a December graph. Both his November and December graphs have been posted to the Pellet Points hood imager along with the daily data.

This is to acknowledge that 2/25 and 2/26 have the same value. It is an accurate coincidence - not an average of points spread over two days.

The February pellet graph has been posted to the Pellet Points hood imager.

Enormous thanks to Erik for continuing to produce the graph!

There is a very interesting spike on the graph produced by Tai'lahr's (aka "Spike") Pellet Blitz initiative. Definitely worth a look!

Totals for 3/16*, 3/17*, and 3/21-23 have been posted to the Pellet Points hood imager.

The totals for 3/16 and 3/17 come with the following asterisks regarding collection times which deviated from the normal midnight KI times:

3/17: 11:00 (am) - reported in totals for 3/16.
3/18: 15:00 (pm) - reported in totals for 3/17.

Totals for 3/18-20 are TBD until I clarify collections.

JW,

In the interests of maintaining a visible record of the effort to revitalize the Lake, could I possibly talk you into compiling at least some of this information and making it available in DPWR's Archive until we can start working again?

Alahmnat, I was planning to do exactly that by posting a complete summary. Thanks for the request and inspiration. Also, the first two months' charts are on the DRC site. Erik produced the others and posted them. Plus he has versions formatted for imagers. You will want to grab those as well.
