I have read that there are other linking books to Dereno, Jalak, Minkata, Negilhan, Payiferin, and Tetsonut found in the pedestals of the Ae'gerea library and museum. Where are they located? My pedestals are empty except for a Relto page for sun.
The museum allows you to go upstairs, but the end is blocked by signs. You can't jump down through the spiral staircase.
The library's lower floor is also blocked by signs.

In Myst Online: Uru Live there were Dereno, Payiferin, Tetsonot and Negilahn books on the pedestals on the right side of the museum, and the Minkata and Jalak books were on pedestals in the library on the opposite side from the door.

None of these were ever in any previous versions of Uru, although IIRC there was an inoperable Negilahn book that could be found in the museum in some Until Uru shards.

How do you get to Uru Live to open the other linking books (Dereno, Jalak, etc.)?

You can't. Myst Online:Uru live has been shutdown (April 10th, 2008) and is not available anymore.

When might Uru Live be available again? How is it different thant the Uru Complete Chronicles? I just finished Chronicles and read about continuing the adventures through Uru Live.

We are all hoping for a return of Uru Live in some form. Right now, Cyan is in talks with Gametap concerning rights. It looks like Cyan would like continue Uru Live / MOUL. If these talks fail, Gametap will continue to hold the rights to MOUL for two more years.

There are slight changes to the game between the two versions. The gameplay in Ercana and Ahnonay was different in that you could not finish Ahnonay by yourself, and you could not get your Bahro Pellet Cave information by yourself. There was no fireplace code in MOUL, and you could not enter it. Sharper's spyroom was smaller in the live version. We also did not get access to the puzzle in the Watcher's Sanctuary that featured the ball, and therefore we did not have access to the Great Tree.

The easiest way to find all the differences (and similiarities) would be to
check the Goodie List (Spoilers) in this post par Texana...

That's the hundred thousand explorer question right now.
Answer? Dunno. Not even Cyan and Gametap know yet.. but they're working on an answer. The only thing we know is that Cyan can't move while Gametap has the rights, Gametap and Cyan are working on negotiations (which involving lawyers will take a good while), and the Gametap rights expire in about 2 years so that's probably our longest case scenario. But we're not sure of that.

You never could get down the library staircase past the barricades. The closest we got was a little hack in the KI for UU (it's not solid second landing and down anyways) or with a little modification to the city collision files you can find on the GoW site. The museum has nothing past that barricade by the way. Just a door that leads to nothing. It's theorized by some there was gonna be an elevator to the lower level (which also isn't solid) but we dunno.

Who knows what dark secrets lurk in the hearts of ages? The Cyan knows! Very Happy

It's unfortunate that there is no current Uru Live. I was a latecomer discovering Myst for the first time in 2006. I've invested time and money into the 5 Myst games and Uru Chronicles and recently heard about Uru Live after completing Uru Chronicles in June of 2008. I hope that someone reopens Uru Live to allow new Myst and Uru players like myself to experience what all the Uru veterans have enjoyed.

Brett, I believe that Uru will return in time, and when it does, the story will pick up where it left off. The best thing you can do right now is read as much as you can to learn the story and be prepared for Uru's return. Here's a good place to start: RECAP: The Restoration So Far...

And for more information, try http://rel.to/

Enjoy the immersion of Uru. Wink

If you read the thread in the General Discussion forums, the rights to MO:UL have just been reacquired by Cyan, so we should be seeing MO:UL return in some form very soon.

There's a much more up to date version of the RECAP also, even though it's STILL not totally up to date.

RECAP: The Restoration So Far... (1987 to June 2007)
