Okay, I'm going to say this once and once only.
It is my firm belief that a major contributory factor to the low numbers on MOUL was the vociferous presence on this and other public forums of a section of the player base who felt their function was to complain, at each and every opportunity, that there was no new content, that the new content was slow coming, that the new content was boring, that the new content was too easy or too difficult, that the game as a whole was laggy and slow and full of bugs and that they were on the verge of cancelling their subscriptions. (Some of them stayed on the verge for months. Some are still here.) Whenever anyone commented to their complaints, they repeated the complaints.
I am not disputing that some of these statements were true. Nor am I disputing the complainers' right to make these statements. I had complaints about MOUL myself, and I voiced them, so I'm including myself in this indictment.
What I am saying is that making those statements in that quantity, in a public forum, where prospective new players could see them, was bound to damage the game's numbers, and anyone with half a brain could have seen that. So what I am
suggesting is that, if and when MORE is put into action, those of us who want it to continue and grow try to keep the complaints to a minimum, and perhaps have a place to put them where they are not the first thing someone sees when s/he goes looking for information about Uru. Those of us who do
not want it to continue and grow...well, they'll do what they will.
There is a place for honest criticism, as any theatre manager would agree. Shouting "IT'S RUBBISH!" through a megaphone at the queues outside the box office is perhaps not it.
