Post Posted: Sat Dec 13, 2008 6:18 pm — Post subject: Calling for an all guilds meeting (POSTPONED)

Due to the unexpected surprise we all got yesterday, I would like to call for an all guilds meeting to discuss what it means for the guilds, what new needs are opening up in the community and how we can fill those needs.
I realize that at least one guild is already having a guild meeting. I would like the all guilds meeting to take place after that. Would (see edit) work or can we have it sooner? It would be great if we could have a Cyan rep. there too, and as always anyone interested in joining the meeting is welcome whether you are part of a guild or not. More details will be added here as they are finalized.

Meeting postponed until after the New Year and more word from Cyan.

What's the venue? CyanChat?

I would be very interested in attending this one.

The venue is up for debate at this point. Cyan chat would work as long as they are willing to let us use there client. If not, Mystonline.info is available but requires you to register first. Guild of Messengers also has a chat client that could be used. I don't much care where it is as long as we all get together and work on this together.

GoMa also has a chat room if needed (again, registration is required beforehand). It works in much the same way as the MystOnline.info one. The GoMa GMs have used it several times to hold online meetings. The Meeting Place also held one of their Funday Meets there, so it can cope with crowds as well.

If it helps, I could ask Nynaveve to set up a special room for the meeting.

I guess the Venue doesn't matter much, Anywhere a large amount of people can come to talk.

We'll need to arrange for Guild reps to have at least voice in the channel to ensure they can discuss things of the most important nature.

Should we get a list of people who will be officially talking for their guild?

Yes. I would like to make sure of who is authorized to speak for which guild. I will be speaking for the GoMe. I will let you know if there will be any others as soon as I know.

Kato, and Tsar Hoikas from GOW will most likely be representing the GOW as they are our Guild Councilors. However they may appoint someone to do it.

At any rate if they are their they should get voice.

Can I just say that http://rel.to/IRC/gomechat.php proved itself with the Press conference back in July and it doesn't need registration or downloads of anykind.

See you all there, what ever time and day it is I will be there.

Yes, what Szark said. It's there. It's ready. It runs on your browser. And no registration or download formality.

Szark, that is a great idea. It also has the added bonus of Cyan already having used it. Maybe they will be more willing to join the meeting if we use a client they have already used.

The "client" is Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc. A browser. The GoMe chat link goes to Mibbit, an open web chat client.

Anyone who prefers to use an IRC client can also connect to the same chat. Honestly, I have no idea what Chogon used during the last chat Smile It may have been the web interface, it may have been something else. I used Trillian.

Other trivia: The web client (Mibbit) even works in Second Life's internal web browser.

The previous conference was held at chat.mystlore.com:6667, which (as of this writing) redirects to Tay's IRC server. Tay's ISP has (I've just learned) been unreliable lately, so amonre has set up another server at stoneship.org:6667. For the moment, http://rel.to/IRC/cyanchat.php still points wherever chat.mystlore.com points (chucker could change it), and http://rel.to/IRC/cyanchat2.php now points to the stoneship.org address. If a meeting time and date are scheduled, and people want it to be on IRC with the Mibbit interface available, I'll make sure we can meet on a working server.

The 20th is my Grand Daughters first Booth sale for Girl Scout Cookies so it would depend on the time. Will the messengers be contacting GM's about this?

That'll be up to Lynnutte. I personally think it would be best for the GMs to agree upon a time among themselves, there's no way to pick a time that will please the entire community and there's no group more qualified to make such a decision.

Cool
