I know Cyan was still working on Uru when it was pulled by gametap, and before that, ubisoft, and that they must still have some fantastic ages in their computers. Perhaps they are not yet complete, but still, does anyone think Cyan will release *all* their Uru IP to the public domain? I'd love to see T'iannas' Torus age, or walk around in the latest incarnation of Myst Island...

Somehow I think they released all they could at the time. There has been no indication that they have any near-completion or alpha/beta stage ages.

I think you need to revisit the DRC site. There's potential there.

There were parts of the Cavern in MOUL which were closed to explorers presumably to be opened at some future date. I would be interested to see if these will be available.

If you had a collection of material or content to use if it became possible to reestablish a presence for your life's work, would you give it all away now, or wait for a promising future to do it right?

Cyan gave away their pipeline with the expansion packs and Myst V after Ubisoft canceled Uru Live. Later, when the impossible happened and GameTap launched MOUL, the ability to introduce new material suffered and subscribers complained.

History suggests that Cyan keep the potential they still possess for the proper time.

Or the movie.

It'd be interesting, and I'd love to see what they had planned, but I don't think it's wise for the reasons JWP spelled out.

I believe there were some ages well advanced in developing including one that has riding beasts but there were unsolved challenges around the beasts. I hope and pray we do get to see more wonderful Cyan made ages in the time to come, just a matter of timing and resources and there is no hurry.

Even Cyan's latest comments still indicate, although the open sourcing of the engine may be a last gasp effort, that they still hope to be involved in Uru's future again someday.

For that reason, no, I don't think they'll release any Ages they had under development.

For Cyan to release any as yet unseen material would mean it would be relatively untested also and for this reason alone I think it very unlikely. The points JWP make are also very strong.

Honestly, I don't want to see Cyan release "half-baked" Ages, partly for the reasons that JWP spelled out, and partly because I just don't want to see them. Would you want to hang up a half-finished painting in your house? Probably not. I want to see the beautiful finished projects, not the buggy, half-done versions.

What'll be interesting is if they do decide to start creating new Ages again sometime in the future, they'll actually have to compete with UCC; and given enough time, I can bet that UCC is going to get pretty darn good--if not better than--Cyan's work.

That'll be interesting.

Keep the faith; you never know what is going to happen. I would like to see the rest of Myst Island.

For some reason I didn't think that Cyan had anything much left in the proverbial "pipeline", but I could be wrong, of course.

From the CyanChat with Chogon regarding MORE:

[Chogon] As far as the "pipeline" there is a few things left around... but still needs lots of work.

If you look around in the caverns Uru live or Uru CC you will see a lot of potential. As far as the Magic of Uru is concerned A good magician never gives up their secret but a great magician can always think up something better, and as far as Age Creation go's with what I know its All magic to me
