Hey All,

I was hoping you could help me get EAX working for Uru under Windows XP 64 bit. My dxdiag is attached. I have a soundblaster audigy 2 zs which used to run eax fine, although I haven't played in a long time. It's a new system build and the most significant change is the switch to 64 bit. Is that the problem? I'm going to try some other fixes but I've already tried to decrypting the uru ini files to try to force eax hardware, which didn't seem to work. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I couldn't get my Audigy 2 card to work properly under Vista x64. I suspect that you don't have EAX because your card's drivers don't support it. This is a question for Creative, rather than here, I feel.

Getting creative to fix this will be like drawing blood from a stone, they rarely fix anything after the intial release and it usually takes a revolt from customers to the likes of a share price drop before they do anything about it.

Thanks for the information.

I've got a working fix, now, so far as I can tell. This applies to Windows XP 64-bit with 4GBs of RAM or greater and Audigy 2ZS (though it should apply to all sound cards supported by daniel_k's drivers).

First install daniel_k's drivers for your creative card, located here: http://danielkawakami.blogspot.com/

Second install daniel_k's Creative ALchemy patch for Windows XP, located here: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&thread.id=106432&page=4

Third add Uru (and whatever other games you want) to Creative ALchemy. You're good to go!

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I am having a problem restoring EAX for Uru CC under Win7 x64. I'm using an X-Fi card, daniel_k's drivers, and have Uru loaded into ALchemy, yet under Uru Setup > Audio both the Hardware acceleration and Use EAX effects checkboxes are grayed out. Anyone with a similar setup get this working?
