Hi,

I purchased Myst for my iPhone a few days ago and have been playing it alot. Yesterday while playing the game, my screen went black and the battery symbol came on saying it needed charging. First time this has happened; I've always plugged it in now and then to keep it charged so it was a surprise.
Anyway, after I recharged the battery; I went to the game icon, pressed it and the initial Myst screen came on, but the it went back to my apps menu (out of the game). I have tried reboot,and turning off and on with no change. I don't have much on the phone so I know it's not a memory issue. Unfortunately, I intalled directly to my phone from iTunes.

The only thing I can think of is the auto save feature and that somehow the program is stuck in the crash cycle.

I was in the Stoneage working on the compass when this happened.
What can I do?
I have reported the prob to cyan and I really want to get back to playing but I don't want to purchase it again if I don't need to. I also don't want to wait for days or weeks for a fix.

Please HELP........I'm going thru Myst withdraws and it isn't pleasant! Sad

Did you sync your phone to copy it to your iTunes library? If it's there you can reload it.

When you try to get to the game from the icon is it just black or can you get to the options menu? (is the " i " icon at the bottom of the screen?) If you can get to the options you could drag the current game to the Trash can icon and start a new game, if you can't and it's not in your library, I am unsure what you can do. Sad

Thank you for your quick response. I reviewed this forum and read the answer you posted regarding trying to re-download the game through iTunes. I tried that and it replied that all downloads had been received. However, I did sync my iPhone with Itunes today and I am currently trying your suggestion of syncing it back to my iPhone.

As for what happens when I press the Myst icon on iPhone to start game; all it does is show the Myst photo for a few seconds then stops and my apps menu screen comes back on.....like it doesn't even load the program. No menu and no black screen, just pop and i'm back like I never tried to open game. That's why I think the app got corrupted somehow and refuses to load or doesn't know how to.

All of my other Apps work fine.

I'll let you know if re-syncing works and if iTunes support is any help. Thanx again for your help

This looks like Myst chokes trying to load a corrupted saved game. The developers might be interested in a crash report and in your saved game files (can be extracted from the backup iTunes makes when synchronizing using iPhone Backup Extractor) - but I'll let them handle that.

If you don't mind losing your saved game progress, you could try deleting Myst from the iPhone (tap and hold on the icon until it starts to wiggle, then tap the X - this should delete the saved games too), then reinstalling it from iTunes.

Hi,

First I would like to thank anyone and everyone who is trying to solve this unique problem. Overwhelmed by Myst addition and because I had not progressed too far into the game; I have learned through iTunes that my purchase could be reloaded for free and therefore that is what I have done. Everything works great and it is now in my computers iTunes as a backup.

I would still like to see all of the experts out there (and you know who you are) to keep working on this bug, so it can be fixed if someone is far along in the game and reinstalling would be crushing.

looking forward to seeing if a solution is discovered. If any of the other techs get back to me, I willbe sure to post their findings.

I should note, as was pointed out by Ladiebldr, that this method only applies if your download stopped at some point, either on the iPod or in iTunes. If you'd completed the download and the app somehow disappears, follow the steps in this support article on Apple's site:

Thanx again for all the help. I didn't realize iTunes was so easy in allowing you to re-download Apps purchased. That is very friendly on their part.
I had to delete Myst app from my iPhone and then reload it with iPhone from App store ( it recognized I had already purchased it, and asked if i wanted to download again for FREE), which I did and then uploaded it to my PC iTunes.

Played the game and finished it....WOW!! Can't wait for more.

P.S. there is another bug...this one is in the Stoneage. Don't stay in the compass room if you select the wrong button. The power will go out and you will be stuck in darkness with no way out. Had to start game again from beginning. Didn't save cause I had heard that you could not die in this game. Oops. I will post this as a separate message; if anyone has a solve for it.
