Shorah, Artic Wagon!

Sorry about this, but hackers keep attacking the GoMa website so we have had to take down the main pages temporarily (they use Joomla, and that is what the hackers are attacking). There's a simple home page up now, but that is all on the web side of things.

However, the forums, tutorials, wiki, mesh repository, ULM and chat room are working as usual.

The links that need deleting on the list are these:

Quote:

About the Guild of Maintainers (how the guild is organised, what the different departments do and who heads them)
Getting started with exploring new Ages (what you need, how the ULM works)
Instructions on installing the ULM program and new Ages
GoMa chat rooms (other groups are welcome to use them too)
To access the forum and chat rooms people will need to register here

Well, you said the GoMa section was getting too long Wink

Shorah Dot.

I am very sorry to hear about your problems with hackers. Sad

As per your instructions, I have deleted these 5 entries.

1- About the Guild of Maintainers (how the guild is organised, what the different departments do and who heads them)

2- Getting started with exploring new Ages (what you need, how the ULM works)

3- Instructions on installing the ULM program and new Ages

4- GoMa chat rooms (other groups are welcome to use them too)

5- To access the forum and chat rooms people will need to register here

Double check to see if I did a good job and please do not worry about "space" and my special sense of humour. You are, and always be most welcome.

I always save a copy of the last change(s) and also keep a copy of the previous change(s)

Shorah, Artic Wagon! Various maintainers have been busy working on the wiki, and it's time for an update. (Thanks, Erik, Xindhus and Nalates!)

I've copied the current text from the all-in-one post and edited it to read as follows. In the spoiler is the same text but done as code (to make it easier to copy and paste).

Quote:

3- Guild of Maintainers
Forums
Current events
Wiki

The wiki includes the following sections (some wiki pages are meant to be viewed at a minimum 1024x768 resolution)
- About the Guild of Maintainers -- How to join the guild; guild departments and structure; guild officers, including the leadership team and inter-guild liaisons; guild procedures; GoMa Code of Conduct
- Exploring and inspecting fan ages -- How to install fan ages; list of available fan ages; tips on writing GoMa inspection reports
- Developing fan ages -- links to age creation tutorials from GoW, GoMa and others
- Resources -- game patches, utilities, and age builder resources, including the GoMa Blender mesh repository; resources for explorers in SL

The GoMa members have done a great job.

I did double check all your new links and everything looks "A ok".

And thank you very much for your spoilers codes. That made my editing very easy.

We all thank you for the update.

It has almost become a full-time job, but once again, the GoMa instructions on playing Fan Ages, are *not* recommended nor supported. The official list of Fan Ages, etc. is kept here: http://alcugs.almlys.org/UAM/Ages

Thanks, Artic Wagon.

It's not a fight. Just see it as offering people alternative choices, which is surely a good thing.

I have to wonder who it is that 'recommends' these things and 'supports' them?

GoMa recommends an install and setup and pretty much supports it. GoW and alcugs (I continually misspell this acronym - sorry) have install and support recommendations and provide help in their forums.

Also where does this 'official' stuff come from? Did aclugs apply somewhere for certification and official approval?

Where does anyone get the idea that another list for special purposes can't be used?
Whether or not it is needed or will be useful are valid questions. Whether or not people use it is up to individuals.

Whatever, thanks for adding the link.

The more info we get the better it is.
It is not so important who did provide this information.
Aslong people can find their way, than it is ok!

Besides it is not Aclugs but Alcugs. Wink

The people who actually gather the Ages, create the integration stuff, and make the downloading/conversion tool are who recommend and support the way specified at Alcugs. We fix bugs; GoMa does not. Alcugs is where Pyprp was written, where the shard server was written before UntilUru, where the first Fan Age was written, where the first downloading tool was written... Alcugs gives freedom and control to the users, rather than try to bind it up in some Guild Hierarchy.

I don't have a problem with GoMa having a list for their inspections, but I don't want people to confuse it with the list made by the people who are actually trying to help, rather than play club games.

Thanks, veralun.

Dustin, GoMa is NOT trying to tie ANYONE into guild hierarchies, or club games, or anything else.

Like Alcugs, GoMa is trying to serve the community -- as diverse as it is. That is why GoMa is involved in more than just inspecting fan ages, as people will see from the forums and the wiki.

People choose how they participate in this community, according to their own preferences, opinions and understanding. That is how it should be.

And, as veralun says, providing information helps. Links to information sources are provided on the GoMa wiki so that people can check back, and make their own decisions.

Could the DRAEC (D'ni Research of Ages and Exploration Committee) be listed here? I know it's not a guild, but it is a site of interest! I also couldn't find a place to get the DRAEC on the rel.to pages...

Rel.to is an affiliate/side project of the Guild of Messengers this is why you didn't find anything here Smile
There is a specific thread for rel.to on the GoMe Forums.

However we have eyes always looking out for new sites. DRAEC is already in the database Wink

FYI, the webmasters at the Guild of Greeters website have announced an outage for both the website and forum beginning today, March 9, at approximately 9AM EST and continuing until sometime late on March 11 while the server hardware is relocated. I would assume that would also affect the WorldsOfGreeters website.
