Post Posted: Fri Oct 06, 2006 9:07 pm — Post subject: Leira?

so i was looking again through the Myst 5 lost chapters book"let", and i suddenly stopped when i noticed this:
at Atrus' "biography" it says (as expected) that his parents are Gehn and Keta, but Gehn's "biography" says that hes the husband of Leira.
Whos Leira? i checked dpwr, but it doesnt have any Leira there. Is it a mistake, or a little info no one ever really thought about?

Yup, same person. Very briefly mentioned at the beginning of BoA.

I don't actually think she's mentioned by name in BoA... at least, not the English copies.

But yeah, DPWR has an entry for Keta, and it mentions her alternate name (Leira), but there isn't a redirect entry for Leira, and the present lack of Archive search means Keta's entry wouldn't be the obvious place to look. I plan on fixing both of these problems before Live launches.

Keta was in Book of Atrus, but she wasn't mentioned directly. She, Atrus, and Gehn are the whole point of the prologue, though.

According to Wikipedia:

Quote:

originally named Leira but renamed by Gehn

No citation, though.

I was being unclear; I didn't mean that the two names both appear in BoA, just that the person briefly does.

This RAWA e-mail, cited by D'ni Desk Reference, is probably one of the first mentions that Keta is the same as Leira.

Or you could try Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst:_The_Book_of_Atrus

I have to say, though, that neither page has much information on it...
