This confirms it .. I will have to submit a little article I wrote for the GoMe newsletter called, Confessions of a Walk-Through Junkie. I am definitely there with the walk through thing.

FloCat ! Do you need interviewees Confused Do you need links to game walkthrough sites ? Twisted Evil

I started the series on a PSOne, with Myst III and on to Riven, I was so lost I had to use a walkthrough to get back to page one, and even then didn't finish Riven.
/me thinks on what was the order.. ?
MIII Exile
Riven
Uru CC
MIV
MOUL
MV
realMyst
I applaud all of you that started it all and followed in order the games, books, history so that there was at least SOME continuity in your thinking when solutions were required.

I remember someone not using a walk-through for Ahnonay and posting their daily journal of their exploration. That made for fun reading. Smile

Here's a great walkthrough of the pods by Yellowdog:

Unfortunately, as is my gripe about every single forum post using public photo sites, the photos are no longer accessible. Fortunately, I asked Yellowdog for a set of his images when he posted the walkthrough. Maybe I'll repost his walkthrough somewhere more permanent when I get the chance unless he comes back to fix the walkthrough.

This walkthrough had a great impact on me. I read it after I had already used information provided by others and it made me realize just how much I'd missed out on - the sense of wonder and awe at discovering things for myself and a great sense of accomplishment had I solved it on my own.

But, that's beside the point. Wink It is a great walkthrough and I must point out that YD was one of our hoodmates. Very Happy

Each time I replayed Myst I use the walkthrough for the train maze. Who the hell thought that one up.......?

It was Myst that taught me that walkthroughs exist. I went into that cute looking ship ....... two months later..... skinny, demented and with no hair left I discovered the internet had people on it with answers and I found daylight again..... Confused

Really? It didn't take me long to figure out the sound correlation. I admit I mapped out the tunnels the first time I went through, but the second time (for the other page) I realized what was going on. And I don't recall if it was the case originally, but at least with realMyst the same sounds have the same correlation in the Mechanical Age, which helps.
