Hi all,

As some of you have seen in a recent Wired magazine article, Cyan Worlds is working with Creative Kingdoms to create an online continuation of the MagiQuest journey.

We hope to answer all your questions about this new endeavor as well as what Cyan Worlds' future plans are in the near future.
In the meantime, please explore our new friends at Creative Kingdoms. I think you'll find many similarities between us.

Thanks,
The Cyan Team

This is likely the "something else" that has them busy.

Does this project then give us a handle on how busy Cyan will be and when open source may happen?

MagiQuest says they launch the online game in early fall 2009. Not long. But does that mean Cyan's work ends then? Or does it go into high gear as the users flood in and problems are found and fixed?

Does this push open source back to 'late' fall or even later?

Hopefully Cyan will tell us soon like Chogon says.

The intro certainly has a MOUL looking avatar.
The Twitter info is here: MagiQuest

It's nice to know what the project is that's holding up the release of open source. And, it looks like a good one. This gives us something more tangible to hold on to our hopes for both Cyan's and Uru's future.

I wish them great success with this. Although it may mean further delays in getting Uru back, I feel it also means that they'll be able to do more for Uru when it returns.

Anything that makes the Cyan book keeper reach for deposit slips and not checks is a good thing.

I'm really excited to hear this! I've never been to a real-life MagiQuest facility, but now that I've read about them, I can imagine the coolness that could result from an online version created by Cyan. Assuming we have similar avvies, etc., and assuming that the environments are somewhat Uru-like - and assuming that we have a nice stream of fresh missions, gameplay, etc., this could be quite fun.

It might not have that great backstory - I don't know if there's a story involved or not, but I hope there is - I can imagine this being similar to the GZ Marker missions, etc., but with real benefits at the end.

I'm looking forward to learning more about MagiQuest Online, and I can't wait to see it!

I agree there, Tai'lahr, though it is still hard to know we will be waiting some more... I am more than glad Cyan has this and you know they will mark this with their own unique style and make it something wonderful that will bring in profits so they can continue onto other things (again hopefully profitable) and also open source. Congratulations, Cyan, you guys truly rock!

Good to know that they are working on another project. It's sure is different than any other thing they did before (magic and all), but I guess that's because they didn't work on the concept, only on a game based on it. Anyway it's good to see another project, and I hope to see it going well.

I've been to MagiQuest with my family and it is great fun for everyone, young and old. Putting MagiQuest online is a great transition. It should translate very well.

I think it's a fantastic match between Cyan Worlds' expertise in online and offline family-oriented gaming and Creative Kingdoms' expertise in physical, interactive family attractions.

This looks interesting. Smile

Are there any other details out about what CYAN is doing in this project?

It looks interesting, and those screenshots have a certain Uru vibe to them.

I'll be keeping my eye on this one. Smile

I'm glad to see this is bringing in money for Cyan! I do hope it'll mean that when they are done with this project, they'll have time and money to work on URU again.
