Post Posted: Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:26 pm — Post subject: Warning to those waiting for your email from Cyan

I found out the hard way that not all ISPs are friendly to the email Cyan sends out. This would be a good place to compare notes on which ISPs/mail hosts work and which don't.

I spent the first 24 hours from the first opening of MO:ULagain waiting in vain for an email to arrive. The problem in my case was not with Cyan's server, but with my ISP; Comcast. I sent several email requests that were to go to my comcast email address, but none of them has ever made it, even to today. I switched to my yahoo account, and got the reply almost immediately. In my case it was in the normal inbox, though some have reported they had to look in their spam folder for it. But even that is better than Comcast.

WARNING --- WARNING -- WARNING --
IF YOU ARE USING A COMCAST ACCOUNT and did not receive your email from Cyan yet, you can stop waiting since you aren't going to get one at all. Open a free email account with Yahoo, or Google's Gmail seems to work well too, and you are likely to be in business the next time the Cyan servers are set to create new accounts again.

I understand that people have been having a similar problem with Hotmail.

So, let's hear from those of you that got the email. What was your ISP or mail host and what was your experience?

AT&T is my ISP (formally known as Bellsouth).

I got emails from Cyan within minutes for both me and my wife.

My son Zack on the other hand has a Hotmail account. He's still waiting. (however I know the trick about getting around that).

I have a hotmail address and got 3 emails all at the same time.
The email responder must have been ready to go up in flames by then.

Then, how'd you get into the cavern last night, Jamey? I think people would like to know what you did to get around the problem.

I indeed found a workaround.

Ok, here is what you do. If you enter in your E-mail, and it says that you've been sent an E-mail detailing how to create your account. Go to this address here

https://account.mystonline.com/SetupPassword.aspx?acct=*insert email you used to register here*

Follow the instructions. Smile

I'd suggest that when the signup pages are working again, you just try again. Either it'll work or you'll get an "account already exists" type of error. Either way, you're good.

Alternatively, you can take the positive approach and wait 'til the logins open, the just go for it with the email address and password you submitted. You'll either get "login denied" or it'll work.
