There's something fishy about the blurs on this image...

See how they all have sorta the same shape? They all consist of two blobs, somewhat triangularly shaped perhaps, but none of them seem to be the exact same (though that could be a result of their surroundings influencing the blurring process, or the fact that they were perhaps blurred by hand).

Given their similarity, perhaps they indicate a recurring element (such as Nexus terminals, though they seem too frequent for that in particular). Perhaps E.A.A. (or whoever did the blurring) first placed two blobs onto the text before blurring, creating this effect? Or perhaps they erased the middle of the text before blurring.

Playing with the image in Photoshop reveals what look like characters (D/B and I/T) in the blurs on the top right (it's more obvious when you can see the effect over a range of settings, but here's an image where they're as prominent as I could get them):

So... I think I'm going for the 'there was text but someone erased a line through it, then blurred it' theory.

If I recall correctly, the version of K'veer in POTS had KI coordinates... so you could calculate where K'veer should be.

And you recall correctly! The KI coordinates in PoTS for the spot in K'veer where the Myst book stand in MOUL is located is 1497, 811, -72. That's puts K'veer about 8 degrees to the right of the line running from the Great Zero through the center of Kerath's Arch. 1497 toranee (of course) does not agree with where the Guild of Cartographers says it is (20026 toranee). K'veer is about a half mile closer to the GZ than Bevin.

edit: Bottom line is that you should be able to see the arch from the window in K'veer and just a bit to the right. So the vague details that look like Ferry Landing and the Great Stair are probably just that. But I still cannot see the arch Crying or Very sad .

Hmm, the image posted by Eric is probably substantially reduced from the original so trying to reconstruct anything from the posted version is going to be hard, but it looked to me as if there was something in that gap, but something like an underscore or ellipsis. The extension lines from the blurs all go to what look to be significant buildings. So these might be co-ordinates, expressed as "XX_YYY" or possibly dates (maybe month numbers) for work to be done on those areas, e.g. "8...10" or an area number and the initial of who was assigned to work on that area, e.g, "NN, AAA" or a great many other things I could think of.

The blurred captions look similar for a reason. I can actually reveal what they said:

"Place cones here"
"Place barricades here"
"Put DRC Safety sign here"

Awesome screens. Show us some more! Wink

Oh hey, more of Ankh-Morpark!

(Because I played Uru and read the Myst novels before reading the Discworld novels, my mental image of Ankh-Morpark is identical to my mental image of D'Ni, which is based largely on the City and Bevins in Uru.)

Nice seeing the 3D models. I'm not a game developer, but I presume that you do development similar to doing a drawing. You block out the big shapes first. It looks like you figure out the space first and then you work on the details. Interesting.

Let's not forget the following map, which seems to perfectly match the "green building area"

(Notice the circular shape of the "inverted cone", the T-shaped dock, the stair-shaped building at the left, etc., etc.)

Which leaves the question as to what is the map posted by Eric Anderson. The DRC site does list two separate areas: City Proper and City Center... which one is which?

Wait...where'd that one come from?

In any case, the image that Eric posted is probably an older concept art of the City Proper and the one you posted is a "newer" one made after they consolidated it, refinedit, etc.

I've seen old concept art of Ae'gura where its much bigger and elaborate, this is probably the case with the City Proper.

I'd imagine "City Center" to be a slightly seperated part of City Proper, like how the Library could be sepereated from the rest of Ae'gura. Maybe City Center is that area at the base of the City Proper on the lake.

City Proper is the term given to the city areas that cling to the walls of the cavern, The City is the term given to Ae'gura IIRC.
