Your cover texture paint technique is good, I'd just tone down the color (yours is too saturated, it needs to look "dusty") and maybe go a little lighter on the paint application. From the photo it looks like theres quite a bit on there. You want to use the dry brush techniques. Did you use some kind of varnish to finish it? Don't use anything shiny if you use varnish, use mattes. You want the book to look old and weathered. varnish makes it look newer, therefore any distressing details you used would look faux. I personally leave off the varnish. More chance for the paint to get damaged, but then that just adds to the distressed look.

For the yeesha symbol overlay on the cover I'd go with a darker grey-brown color, and use stencils to get the look perfect. Also, use a finer detail brush, the thinnest you can find at a craft store.

On the pages inside, don't forget to erase your pencil marks. And it looks like you used the rougher textured side of the paper. Use the smoother side. The yeesha pages look good, just add another coat of apple green paint to give them stronger lines.

Not bad for a first try!!

Thanks Kierra, its true, i used some pretty thick paint, and it isn't very distressed yet. I didn't use a varnish, and there is a bright light beaming directly down on the book in that picture Smile The paper for the cover, as well as the pages ended up being to thick. Like, WAY too thick.
The mandala, as well as the yeesha pages are painted with a pretty thin brush, but i can defiantly find one smaller.

I (stupidly) painted over the pencil marks with these pages, so they can't be erased Embarassed

Because i didn't like this one, I am creating a new one, thanks for the tips, hopefully this one will be much better Wink

Ya know what would be interesting.........a welded steel frame made to fit inside of a cone so you could actually stand on them.

OK then how about this one,............ a traditional looking linking book, when you open the cover and see a small flat screen thats touch sensitive (linking panel), it changes from one fly over video to another when touched and makes a that linking sound.
hidden inside of the book a small circuit board ,speaker, battery (of coarse)
and a interface plug in thingy so you can connect it your PC and down load diffrent video's

all I need now is an electronic engineer and a computer programmer

How about a real life Kadish vault.
Just so long as Cyan doesn't pull a Yeesha and take my gold filled chests...and skeleton.

I want a tee shirt that has a letter bit more style than the ones currently available. Not just a straight box. And sleeves that are 3/4 or long sleeves. No short sleeves for my arms!
