I can't wait to see how the KI changes but simply altering it might upset Laxman don't you think? Is there going to be an IC explanation as to why/how the KI gets upgraded or has the DRC pretty much been removed from the picture at this point?

I would bet Laxman is still tinkering with ideas. He may not be down in the cavern, but he may have had an explorer do some *maintenance* on the lattice for him. Wink

Yay! Cool It was one of the great unknowns for me whether the KI and avatar would be considered part of the open-source “code” or part of the closed “content”. Seems like the former, at least for the KI – sweet!

I see no license terms in the KI and WaveEmote archives (unless they are within the max files that I can’t open). What are we allowed to do with them?

Let’s say I want to use some of the KI graphics in a hypothetical KI chat iPhone app. Could I? (What I planned to do, should I ever reach that stage, was to apply for an FCAL the old-fashioned way – is that procedure obsoleted by this release?)

(Incidentally, the TGA graphics in the KI archive look very old. Are the current textures stored inside the max file?)

Not being a person who's done coding or 3d modelling.. is this enough still? While we have an animation, don't we need the model rigging info to figure how to make our own? (which could be coming, you never know, this was a sudden surprise) Is this enough to do some of the in-depth tweaks to the ki beyond what was done back in UU and the various python hacks? Does this include the way the KI interface is drawn (not just the images but the actual way it displays text, displays the names on the side and so on)?

Who knows; I'd bet there's a way to code regions so that buttons or switches can only be activated with a full-level KI-light attached to the KI (similar to how the fireflies were necessary to activate switches in Eder Gira's caves).

That shouldn't be too terribly difficult to do. If the color of the KI light is specific, then we could program activation areas to react to that particular color or light (as opposed to other light sources that may be of a different color altogether).
