I don't believe it will due to the new interface that they kept from Vista.

Yeah, an XP Theme will not work with 7 or Vista (Patched).

XP uses .msstyle while 7/Vista use .theme as well as some various files for modifications of looks.

If I knew more about creating themes myself, I'd help out. If you are interested in Windows 7 design, I'd talk to the creator of Soft7 on Deviantart. He seems to know what he's doing. I don't believe you are required to have a 7 PC... however testing would be a pain.

I have 7 x64... just putting it out there Smile

xp themes do work for 7, but not vista. HOWEVER, to work with 7 there has to be some modifications done to .theme file. This is to include multiple ddesktop (rotating) screens, as well, if u want to add the additional options of startup and shutdown screens. There is some coding that has to be done too for the difference in how the .theme setup reads.

Another thing to consider is that there are some 7 themes that only work on the higher end of 7 and not the lower end of the OS. This is due to subtle changes in the OS theme properties and what is offered by the OS. Likewise, some of the 7 OS's dont allow the use of Aero properties (or are restricted) and thus if the theme has Aero properties, it may not work on all 7 OS's.

I do have my old 98/XP theme modded for 7, BUT, havent released it for 7 yet as I wish to continue the mod into seperate versions of the theme files, pending the 7 OS.

I had no idea what you just said.

If i can give you a completed XP theme, you can turn it in to a 7 theme.

not until next week sometime. Im on my laptop, which is only 7 starter. I would have to be at home with my desktop to do it, but yea. When I get home, I could turn it into a 7 theme.

However, there is a theme maker for windows 7. http://www.dl4all.com/software/17771-desktop-x-theme-creator.html It works well on Win 7. It was made for 2k, xp, and Vista, HOWEVER, I have made several win7 themes with it.
