Add me to that. I have no clue why other people have trouble with that.

Gate jump requires quite precise direction adjustment, some people, including me, sometimes fail in that.

Guys, this is like... the easiest part of the game. It's simple:

1. Stand on that isolated island-thing where the journey cloth is and walk to the lower level closest to the Gahreesen door.
2. Go to first person view and look down onto where you are going to land.
3. Run and jump just at the edge while keeping the door within your view at all times.
4. Viola, you're there.

The hardest, hardest, hardest puzzle I have ever faced, was the "weight puzzle" in Amateria (Exile). How the heck was I supposed to know that 2:1 was the ratio for that thing. Anyway, after I eventually completed it the cool rollercoaster ride kind of made up for it.

The craziest puzzle has to be Ahnonay. The idea itself is very cool, but how we were supposed to know link to Relto, link back, touch this journey cloth, link back to Relto, go back to Ahnonay mainland, link to Cathedral, link to Relto, link to Ahnonay... ARGH! So frustrating...

The best darn puzzle ever, the monkey puzzle in Exile. That was so cool you could get them to do different things if you knew the right call sequences. I loved ever minute of the puzzle and the Age in general.

It's even easier if you jump to the small island next to it. You're closer to the door then.

There's a hangman toy in the J'nanin bedroom, where the 2 scales were. It shows the ratio for a moved fulcrum.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, but at the time I had no idea that it was somehow related. Eventually, after two weeks of trying to solve the puzzle and I used a walkthrough to solve it. The fact I was so close to the solution (about halfway there) made me want to bash my head against the wall but I'm not sure how that would have helped solve the puzzle. Very Happy

Hardest: Riven. Marble. Puzzle.

Stupidest: Pod Ages, Uru. First off me and a friend had to luck out and get one before we could even attempt to solve it! Very stupid. Waiting on time is not a puzzle.

Most Hilariously Infuriating: Harmonic/Crystals at the starting of Myst IV. Jebus.

Craziest: Psychic Vampire Memory Puzzle. Myst IV. What, the, heck?

Shorah everyone.
Like tanshin I also find it easier, with a 100% success rate, if you jump from the tower with the journey cloth, onto the shorter, smaller one and then jump to the exit door.

Good Luck

The pod puzzles aren't stupid if you know how to solve them. You need the map in the museum and the pamphlet about time on the classroom table of 'hoods with a clock.

If you found all the views of the ball, that is. It was made to be a little deceptive. If more parts of amateria, and exile in general had held that quality i would have liked that game to. As it is, it just does not MYST it for me Smile

Aww, Exile is one of my fav Myst games. I didnt think it was that hard. 4 was the most frustrating for me, all because of the memory puzzles at the end.

Hardest: Dreamworld Floating Lights Puzzle; requires time and full concentration.
Stupidest: Ercana Pellet Puzzle: I still have no idea what you're supposed to do.
Craziest: I agree with the writer on the Monkey puzzle. Runner up would be the Spire puzzle.

Now I feel all bad for admitting I do not favourize Exile. It is very pleasing to play. I just wanted it to be harder I suppose.
Friends again?

rofl, trust me, no offense taken my friend. Exile could have been harder in many places; I'll agree to that. I think the reason why I liked it so much was it had lots of story development about the type of depth that ages could evolve into and that it was ibn part based upon a storyline concerning someone who had been negatively affected by the D'ni culture. You kinda see this in Riven, but Exile really drives it home. Now of course it was mainly a skewed perspective because it wasnt really the D'ni culture as much as it was Sirrus and Achenar, BUT, the influences of the D'ni were there.

But I take no offense to your statement. (actually kinda agree with you in some ways) still friends, lol It'd take a lot more than a disagreement about game/age developments to stop my friendships. Besides, never feel bad for admitting your own truth if you feel it is truth. There's nothing you need to feel bad about, you're allowed to disagree on a personal opinion.

When I first seen the pods:
"Oh, what is this?"
-clicks button- "Huh, nothing."
-looks out fogged window- "...hmm"
-climbs down latter, looks around and finds main power switch and ends up playing with buttons and going to other pods doing the same- "Wow, these are uselessly fun."
---
After learning the ropes of the game:
"Okay, every age has a meaning to it...so what the hell do these pods mean or do?"
