Know the game Riven and it's glorious musical and sound wonders? Think you know the sound effects well enough to recognize them by ear? Well test your skills at the 1st Riven Sound Effects Game Show! On Wednesday, Jun. 23rd at 8 PM (20:00) KI time come on down to the Eastern Time Zone Bevin for fun and games and to hear a little bit of the masterpiece that was Riven.
We'll be looking for three contestants to give this a shot. The game will be run similar to the show Jeopardy. Let me know if you're interested.
As a note, due to the unreliability of in game Voice Chat, we are going to be playing the sounds over Teamspeak 3. Details about configuring and setting that up can be found here.
Any questions can be directed to me in game at my KI number (see my signature), by e-mail tanshin@guildofmessengers.com, or in this topic Please let me know if you have any Teamspeak troubles.

Time: Wednesday, Jun 22nd at 8 PM (20:00) KI Time
If all goes well, we will begin opening up the game to all Myst game sounds.
----------
An explanation of the game:
The game will be run similarly to the popular game show Jeopardy. A player will select a square (for example A5) and the sound will be played and repeated for 15 seconds. During this time players may "ring in" by typing whatever into the chat first (a single letter will do) and say their answer. If it is incorrect, the other players will have five seconds to answer themselves before the question is removed. Note: You can have negative points.
There will be one round of main questions (a total of thirty) containing two Cho's Specials. If a player selects a Cho's Special they will be allowed to bet any amount of their points, however remember that these questions are more difficult than the rest. At the end of the round there will be one final question in which the contestants will be given a category. The players can bet any amount of their points and after betting the sound will be played. The sound will be played twice and players will PM their answers to me (they will have thirty seconds to submit their answer and to change it if they wish). The answer will be revealed, points totaled, and a winner announced.
Currently we do not have enough money for actual prizes, so for now the prize will be bragging rights.
Audience Participation:
There will be audience participation. Audience members can participate by listening to the sounds and sending a PM to me before the contestants answer. Feedback on who got the question right in the audience will not be given immediately. Instead we'll keep a chat log and review it after the game to see who is eligible to receive a point (audience members cannot have negative points). The person with the most amount of points by the end will win. All questions are worth one point.
As stated above, the funds just aren't there to have actual prizes, so you can only have bragging rights for now.
Connecting to the server:
You will only be able to connect to the Teamspeak server when the server is up. I'll have the server up for a while tonight. You can tell when it's up if the header image looks like this (on the /riven.html page linked to above):
While a header like this means it's off:
Day of the game:
On the day of the game, the following schedule will be in place:
19:00 (7:00 PM KI Time): Anybody in the Teamspeak server will be moved to the General Discussion Channel while we test the connection for our contestants, and a password will be placed on the SFX Channel (new connections will be placed in the General Discussion Channel).
19:15 (7:15 PM) KI Time: Contestants should report to the Eastern Time Zone Bevin (via Private Links) to go over rules and make sure that they can connect to Teamspeak
19:30 (7:30 PM KI Time): The password will be removed from the SFX Channel and music will be played until the game starts. People may begin entering the ETZ Bevin at this point (or in theater terms, the house is now open)
20:00 (8:00 PM KI Time): The game will start
Hopefully this addresses any questions, and if there are any still, please let me know! Sorry to the areas that may be in the middle of the night during the game. This time was the best and most available for the people who responded to the Doodle poll.
Current Contestants:
AgeExplorer
Equinox (Solstice)
