I've just started playing Riven on my iPad, and no matter what settings I use, objects I can interact with always have a bright green circle around them. I've set the hints to never, and I'm not shaking my iPad to make the hints come up. It's really hard to play the game when there is a bright green line around everything you otherwise would have to find in the world.

I SAW IN ANOTHER THREAD THAT YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT PERPINDICULAR TO THE GROUND.

That is how you get the error.

Here is the quote from the other thread (which should be in this area anyhow):

I figured out why the hotspots were coming up and staying up. It has to do with the way I was holding it. If you keep the iPad with it's back parallel to the floor, the hotspot hints are gone. If you hold the iPad with it's back perpendicular to the floor, the hotspots turn on, and stay on.

I just checked, the iPhone does it too, but it has to be held at a pretty unnatural angle for it to occur. With the iPad, it was happening because I was laying down with the iPad resting on my stomach. It's very easy for this to occur on the iPad, very difficult on the iPhone.

We'll make a fix for this in the next update.

Thanks,

I have been playing it with a stand that tilts the iPad not flat but leaning back about 45 degree angle I'd say, and it works as it should. . .

Is this caused by shaking the iPad rather than it being at any particular angle? Maybe the accelerometer is more sensitive at certain angles.

Nope. It's definitely just being 90 degrees or so to the floor. When I was laying in bed, going through Temple Island, the hotspots stayed on. When I sat up and put the iPad in my lap, the screen now facing up, running roughly parallel to the floor, the hotspots disappeared. It's very easy to replicate, and I assure you, it was not being shook at all.

I was even able to replicate the effect on the iPhone 4, but it took holding the iPhone out like a camera.

I'm having this problem too...I've got an iphone 3G 16GB and when holding the iphone perpendicular to the floor, the hotspots turn on, and stay on.

Please fix ASAP...it's really annoying to have bought this fantastic game and continuously be getting the hints/hotspots for it (one which i have never played before and one which i would like to go through doing right thing: pencil; paper; eyes; ears and brain Razz ). If possible, please update riven with an option so that we can disable all hints/hotspots.

P.S: You should update your support.cyanworlds.com to support riven for iphone because i couldn't send you a ticket regarding this issue...

Thank you!
