The map just makes it easier to know exactly which one is oven #4 as I noticed early on most people base their recipes on it and if you were to head HERE then knowing which is which becomes necessary.

IngisKhan's quicker recipe (using oven 4) from earlier in the thread -
Strong oven: 19.5; MAX; 19.5
Other ovens: 19,5; MAX; MAX

Mathew, your settings must be slightly off. 30-30-30 should give you pellets scoring 950-1000. set the bottom of the red needles in the center of the black mark you are trying to set the control on. Theoretical value is 1000 for that setting. There is a 0 to -5% variance on the displayed score.

For all you pellet heads out there, here is some data I collected over several months of intensive pellet baking back in GT MOUL. I'm not sure it's very useful but it is interesting (to me al least Smile ).

Code:

     Pellet value      Visual Result        Tester        Lake Effect         KI Points
                                            Result      (Health) Points*

       pellet <=   50  Steam/Bubble High     10%       -60 to  -50                     0
  50 > pellet <=  150  Steam/Bubble Med      20%       -50 to  -30                     0
 150 > pellet <=  250  Steam/Bubble Low      31%       -30 to  -10                     0
 250 > pellet <=  300  Dud                   32%       -10 to    0                     0
 300 > pellet <=  374  OG Low                40%         0 to   74             5 to  370
 374 > pellet <=  449  OG Med                50%        75 to  149           357 to  745
 449 > pellet <=  509  OG High               60%       150 to  200 to 173    714 to 1000 to 824
 509 > pellet <=  570  WG                    70%       170 to  -10           850 to    0
 570 > pellet <=  595  EXP Low               80%       -13 to  -85                     0
 595 > pellet <=  620  EXP Med               90%       -88 to -160                     0
 620 > pellet          EXP high             100%      -163 to -200                     0

* Health points are the effect on the lake algae. The goal was to increase the algae vitality to increase the level of light in the Cavern. The source of this information was removed with the release of Episode 8 of GT MOUL so it can no longer be found.

Notes:
High orange glow pellets' health points and KI points increase up to pellet value 500 (all ovens at 30-30-30 or other mixed settings) and then start to decrease thereafter.

All KI point values are jiggered by a percentage of 0% to -5% below the theoretical value. A theoretical value of 1000 KI points may produce a score of 950 to 1000. If you get a pellet score below 950, your settings are not optimum.

The Bahro formula 40-30-20 gives a max KI point score of 445 and 89 health points so you can safely dump them in the silo instead of disposing of them.

Oven 4 shorts out if set too high producing bad pellets. I don't remember which controls and what settings do this but I still have the data somewhere... something to do with the product of the time and temp setting not being more than some value.

A similar chart for the offline PoTS version of Er'cana:

Code:

     Pellet value      Visual Result        Tester
                                            Result

       pellet <=    0  DUD                    0%
   0 > pellet <=   50  Steam/Bubble Low      10%
  50 > pellet <=  100  Steam/Bubble Med      20%
 100 > pellet <=  200  Steam/Bubble High     30%
 200 > pellet <=  250  Steam/Bubble Med      20%
 250 > pellet <=  300  Steam/Bubble Low      10%
 300 > pellet <=  374  OG Low                70%
 374 > pellet <=  449  OG Med                80%
 449 > pellet <=  509  OG High               90%
 509 > pellet <=  570  WG                   100%
 570 > pellet <=  595  EXP Low               40%
 595 > pellet <=  620  EXP Med               50%
 620 > pellet          EXP high              60%

try this.....the goal is a high score --- you should note that the longer you leave your oven once the pellets are done...the lower the score you will get....think of it like your at home baking bread and you forgot about the loaf...its gonna turn into a brick.

Here is a good recipe - im not sure why the recipes you all post are low scores but .....here are 2 you may or may not want to try and im not sure of the whole Health thing.....but

ok...here it is...fireworks = BAD - white glow = OK ---- orange glow AWESOME ---- for a 4 hour bake set all ovens at 30-30-30 (its worth the wait, this will yield approx a score of 988 per pellet.) this gives an orange glow that fills the the water surface

for a shorter bake time and lower pellet score (who wants that?) this is a 2 hour bake time....set ovens 1,2,3 at 19.5/50/50
and oven 4 set at 19.5 / 19.9 / 50 ------this will yiels a score of 600-650 (i don care for this one due to the lower score and since the whole PELLET thing is over...the scores in the bevins are just meerly a compitition now. so the 4 hours is a better way to go
if the meeter ever gets returned to the ferry terminal the pellets will play a bigger role. but for now its just a rewardless thing to do

It would add a nice touch of realism, but... have you verified this rumor? Wink

At one time, I had developed a feeling that pellets degraded if left too long, but I've since seen things that act counter to that theory Confused . So I couldn't say one way or the other now.

I'm not really good at math but 4 hours baking time to yield 5 pellets at 1000 each is 5000
2 hours baking to yield 5 pellets at 900 is 4500 times two = 9000

yes I verified it on several batches...just to be sure and its happened to me on each bach...I bake them for the 4 hours and Im right there when the oven is ready - NICE HIGH SCORES --- But if i go to bed and come back in the morning OR go to work - whatever the case might be, the pellets are considerably lower -- Ive seen them drop from 988 to 900 and that is generaly with a 3 to 4 hour extra wait time but I have left them for a few days as well and the score has dropped to 800

thats with the 30 30 30

The second recipe mentioned will actually score between 900-1000 which is considered the optimum score. If you get scores in the 600 range, then one of your settings is off by one tick either over or under where it should be. If one or more of the settings is off by even one tick, the entire batch's score will drop dramatically. Some very exhaustive tests were done during the GameTap era that proved this. If set correctly, this recipe will result in dramtically increased daily scores because of it's very low cook time, and optimum range.

If you hunt around, the same postings also proved pretty conclusively that there is absolutely no truth to the "degradation" theory. Once the batch is cooked, it remains in the the hopper until it is dropped. The score is set at the time it's cooked, and that score does not change. If a variable score is observed, this is normal, as the scores can, and will fluctuate as much as 100 points one way or the other, but the variance should be between 900 and 1000, with a mean somewhere around 966 or so (I averaged 972 when I ran a large number of batches over several days totally over 1,000,000 points). Also, the cook time is actually a few minutes less than two hours (I think i recall it being 1:57, but I might be off by a minute). Not that it matters, but if someone was to min/max a set of batches, they might eek out another batch within a given timeframe because of those few extra minutes.

You had better run some more tests then. Wink << note wink smiley

Well, I use the 30-30-30 recipe, and because of modding here and other things I usually only manage one batch a day at best these days. As soon as I drop my batch of pellets, I start the ovens again, and won't return until the next day or maybe even a week or more will pass before I get back to them. The batches consistenly return an average of around 976 per pellet. On the odd occasion I'll still get a 1000 point pellet, and the lowest I've ever got for a single pellet with that recipe, in 10 months of pellet dropping, is 952.

Hi. Hope this is the right place to bring this up. I've been trying to produce pellets regularly since I got Er'cana facilities working. I have, however, taken a small break so my Bevin-mate and I can try out the Bahro recipe. By taking the markings on the control units as "recommended settings" and adjusting all the gauges as close to 50% as I could manage, I've been getting some very satisfactory pellet scores in the mid to high 800's. On the other hand, my Bevin-mate says she gets a stronger reaction from the algae with lower scoring pellets. For when I start steady production again, could anyone suggest settings that will give the best results, from the standpoint of helping the lighting project?
