Post Posted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 12:25 am — Post subject: GoMa Forum Move

The GoMa forum will be shut down tomorrow to finish our server move. It can take 24 to 48 hours for the new IP address to propagate. The GoMa's domain name will not be changing, but you may need to refresh your browser.

We thank you for your patients and understanding.

-Andy

Apologies Leo!

The URL's have now gone back to what they were originally prior to the move! That was us getting our wires crossed.

So:

Edit:

The old URL's are the same as prior to the move now.

That was fast, Andy... Congrats! And what a nice introduction and welcome... Very Happy

Just wanted to mention that the link to the forums on the GoM main page
links to nowhere, though Google is kindly suggesting the correct notation
which one can use to be redirected... The link simply has no capitalized
F for the forums... Thanks and the best of luck for a great 'new' start... Razz

I had to clear out my cookies to get logged in... so, if you have a problem, try that.

Argh! Mad

I can't get to the site. I've tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox and I've tried deleting my cookies. Any other suggestions?

This link works for me: http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/Forum/index.php

That is a copy paste from the address bar while on the site.

If you found all the GoMa cookies... the next possible problem is the DNS cache. You can confirm if this is the problem or not. On WIndows close all your browsers. Open a command line window (Vista/Win7: click Start and type cmd and press enter.) In the command window type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.

While the window is open type nslookup guildofmaintiners.org and press enter. You should see:
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: guildofmaintiners.org
Address: 72.215.225.9 EDIT: This is the OLD IP, as pointed out below. How I got to the site and had this address is strange. My DNs now shows 174.132.30.178

Authoritative would be better... but the name may still be propagating.

You can close the command window and try to access the site. If you do not get the same IP address, your ISP's DNS servers may be lagging. You could open your hosts file and add the IP/name to fool your computer... but if you do remember to remove the entry at some point.

I get NXDOMAIN for guildofmaintainers.org and COX says no website exists at 72.215.225.9 or any combination using IP/name that I can think of.

I am using IE 8 and had no problem getting to the forums index page at Andy's above link(s)...
http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/Forum/

Edit:
If I go to the Home page, the links near the top for/in the "Forums - Wiki - Chat => Tabs" are not working...

For those whose name servers are (still) not propagated, the correct IP address for guildofmaintainers.org is 174.132.30.178.

There was a wrong setting for the domain name which made it point to the wrong server. The forums did work, but only if we used that funny ~guildof1 prefix. This correction too needs to be propagated and I think somehow Nalates still got the old IP.

The forum link on the home page should work again. The wiki no longer exists.

It seems the worst is over now... Everything looks so clean, so clear and just perfect... Razz

All the links work so far for myself... There's only one link that still has the uncapitalized f,
which is the one on the left linking panel under 'News Archives' - 'GoMa News' and so doesn't
link to the forums yet, but the rest works as it should, also the chat link...

I couldn't check the login facility as I'm not a member of the GoMa, but everything else seems
to be just fine... The tutorials are in their right places, too, and are thus best and conveniently
situated now... And of course, I have to mention how I love your video with your son Josh, Andy...

What a beautiful gift for Frisky, though maybe not very encouraging haha... but when the going
gets tough one day, he'll know where to ask and get the best hints to get along with whatever
peculiarities he'll be facing lol... Cool

I also enjoyed your great snowy pictures from out there in the wilderness... Very nice place and how
great it is to be trapped there for some time... Many greetings and blessings to you and Alaina... /wave... Very Happy

Hmmm… login fails… Embarassed

The links work for me now but I cannot login. I deleted the cookies still no change. The site will not recognize me anymore. I cannot use “I forgot my password” or “Resend activation e-mail” or even re-register now. Confused
