Hi TOOO!

It means the Cavern is open for exploration!

Huh. I did not know that.. I was wondering over that one myself.

Neat!

Ok then.. what's the difference between "open for exploration" and "open"? (Or is it just "Did you remember to preface the message?" "Oops" "Eh, it's fine. Just make sure to do it when something goes wrong"?)

I would imagine "open" means you can link to Relto and maybe a few other places, with huge swathes blocked off for maintenance. "Open for exploration" means those barriers are gone.

Welcome to NitPicking 101!

So the last few days I decided to play through all of my old myst games. Some of them I never finished, a few I didn't get far at all. And I came across my old URU box. I wonder, whatever happened to URU online? I remember it got axed, and quietly shut down my server (The Shard of Zootal) and moved on. Much to my surprise, it's alive again! I don't know what to say - spent a few minutes in they city last night, visiting places I haven't been to in years.

Any old timers here?

The first part of this post is very much like mine. I payed URU back in 2005, and was excited about URU Live, but never got the opportunity to try it out before it got shut down. I have recently moved and all of my games had to be organized, and I came across URU, POTS and To D'ni again, thought I would play them. I got stuck on one Age when I couldn't find the journey cloth and went to a hint page. It was only then that I found out that URU Live was live again. Since then I have got my PC wireless (it's always been hardwired before) and installed MOULa this past Thursday. (I have to say much to my dismay, I didn't see anyone on the server in D'ni.)

TL: DR = Hi! I'm new here. Wasn't on MOUL before, but I am now. How do you do? Smile

lol you two aren't alone. this is a common story. while i missed out on all other versions of MO, i knew this one had come back online (given the price of entry i wasted little time arranging my travel plans this time)

and in a way, it's unfortunate, as the people who share these stories keep on comming... so there must be others still out there who need to know!!

Doing great, thank you! Smile

Did you use the Nexus to get to D'ni? The D'ni linking book on your shelf will only take you to your neighborhood's instance.

true.. there are often at least half a dozen people there. i've only ever been alone in the public city twice for less than a min and that was in the wee hours of the morn my time with a scant international crowd there at the time.

while you can encounter others in the hood city by using the book on relto, the population will be limited to those who are neighbors of your bevin.

if you wish to visit the public city, use the nexus machine to link there. of course, any and all players have access to the public ae'gura.

Yeah, that's pretty much the case. Unless the message includes the "restricted" or "closed" markers, the assumption is that the cavern is open. The '*' simply provides positive confirmation that the marker wasn't simply omitted in error.
