I decided today to use my Yeesha magic to get past the door in the Watcher's Pub. This is what I found:

There is no light switch and the ball is gone. The ladder is enabled:

In the tree, the switch and the cloth are gone. There is a new pattern:

The tree doesn't link anywhere right now.

There, one curiosity satisfied Smile

Are you comparing these changes to CC only or to previous ventures using Yeesha magic in MOUL? Also is it possible to make a marker game explaining to others how to use this Yeesha magic?

Yeah, I was comparing them to CC. You need to compile your own client from the GoW soruce and disable physics to get in there if you really want to Smile

I have previously given some thought as to how that particular puzzle would work in MOULa compared to CC.
(Spoilered in case anyone really doesn't want to know how to do it)

In CC, when you enter the room past the blue button, you press another button to close the door again and turn on a light. All the clues you should have found so far are telling you not to push the boulder as that is a waste of time, and they tell you to wait. So if you stand under the light long enough, the ladder would appear and you'd continue.

This simply could not work in a multi-player environment, there you are patiently waiting and someone presses the blue button, opens the door and the last 13 minutes you've spent stood there are wasted. Or even if you make it to the Great Tree and you are walking around the pattern on the floor, just as you get to the middle, someone else comes running up and ruins what you were doing (although, granted, that is unlikely because they'd either have to have waited with you for the ladder, or you would have to have taken a really long time walking that pattern).

I think Cyan foresaw this and unable to find a work-around as well, and simply disabled the door.

Personally…

I think it would have been cool if it'd been some kind of giant community puzzle that would need a huge group of people in Watcher's Pub to solve it. And the symbols for the fireplace would probably have been revealed one by one, like the Bahro were drawing them, waiting for people to notice, and then drawing another one. So we'd have been sent into a giant scavenger hunt through the network of previously-released Ages. That would have been awesome.

Cool stuff. I've never actually beaten the CC version (waiting until ADBMM to do that) but it always intrigued me.

Apparently they got the thing into alcugs, and found that while the ball is tough to roll as the game intended.. a group of people going at it can kick it free of the track and roll it about like a giant beach ball. That, and the fact that they ripped free havok and stuffed in physx with wrappers implies they just disabled the thing because they couldn't fix it and the stuff past the locked door wasn''t going to be added until much later, and moreso with an update to the age to add the puzzle. So they gave it as is, we didn't need more.

As for puzzle, they would've done something different and co-op, sort of like how the version of ahnonay is versus the PotS version. The 'true' version of the puzzle probably never had a 15 minute wait, that was hopefully thrown in and it was planned to be something special coop, like say one person having to hold the switch, another or more to push the ball up, and get it into position so a third person could climb the ladder and set a trigger so all could. Or something. Who knows.

Really, I'd have been far more surprised if the ball WAS there. Confused

I wonder how much of the puzzle was intended before the end of Live. The other instance of the 625 prorahntee wait was a patch for a previously multiplayer only puzzle, so was the Watcher's Sanctury puzzle also a replacement of something that couldn't be done offline (or couldn't be done with the resources avaliable)? Or was it invented out of wholecloth because they hadn't come up with a puzzle there by the time Prologue closed? I know the Watcher's Sanctury/Great Tree Pub has changed a lot from its original conception (some people don't even agree that they're the same place, or ever were).

Ahh, the Watcher's pub MOUL version.
The first venture of mine in MOUL (at least that I remember, besides the cleft, which I remember and I believe came first) was with a large group of people trying to open the door. I think i suggested looking in the books.
But now I realize my first MOUL experience was with a bunch of idiots! Laughing

also the door on the left still works if you can find your way behind it

Someone must have been using Yeesha magic again today.
The door in the room upstairs was open for a time and access was available to the ladder and beyond but not to the tree itself. Not knowing who opened the door several people took advantage of the opportunity to explore. Another explorer came in and locked the door and told us it should not have been opened. I found it while doing the May marker quest. On the off chance that there might be a marker in the Watcher's pub I decided to check it out. I don't usually go upstairs as I know the door is not supposed to be opened. So I was very surprised that the door was opened. Having recently gone back to CC I already knew what was behind the door. And recently had the pleasure of visiting the Fun House and was given a trip to the great tree. I cannot say who opened the door. If it was Cyan or a hack I don't have the answer. I was there over half an hour before the door was closed and access was denied. Just thought this was an interesting event today.

Ah The Watchers Sanctury/Pub

IMO; as I have said before I believe that ALL areas, ALL puzzles, incl. all the way back to the ABM puzzles,
should be made active again. BUT the Writers Guild will have to converse with Cyan so
to code up some kind of *Brain AI* for each and every player, This is so the game will open up areas
as you progress in the game from the Start.

This is still multi-player BUT the game now will keep very good track of what you have done
and not done. So there will explorers at all sorts of verious levels or better word 'stages'
on where they are in the game.

FACT: Through the years URU has had so many puzzles turned off, or forgotten. The game has literaly
been slowly dismantled. But with this new code 'not being worked on yet' COULD breath new life
into URU and give new and old Explorers a chance to see what URU is/was & can again, IS really like!
One of the MAIN puzzles was How to get around all the blockades in the city of Ae'gura.
( the rope bridge also DID BREAK every once in a while, when explorers were trying to cross it.
but first you had to jump over the barriors. ) But the Puzzle to this was connected to the DRC hood Kirel
which was connected to the Egg rooms and the Light Gardens! Just to give a little inspration Very Happy

This is a game right?? So let it be the game it always has been! NOT by locking up, turning off,
parts of the game just because it can't work. IT CAN WORK!!! We all will just have to Work together
on some of the areas such as The Watchers Sanctury/pub. and the path to the Great Tree!
Yes it is true you have to roll the ball up the spiral slope and get the ball into the small groove at the top
so it will stay up there. Then stand in the light. NOW this is were working together will come into place.
IT IS A GAME remember? So we will have to post some guards by the door so that others will not
come barging in. This will take patience etc. Sure there might be some disagreements and what have you.
ITS ALL APART OF THE GAME. get it?

The Writers and Cyan I'm sure can iron out the Gareseen Training Wall. and the 3 Sages puzzle could be
put back in as well. ( hint the 3 floating stone statues in the gardens ).

So after some time has gone by you will see explorers at all differant stages of the game and it will create
the same type of thing URU created when it first came out, hopfuly. Because the way poor URU MouLa is
now is like looking *kind of ironic* at someone laying on their death bed waiting to die. maybe this was
to graphic if statment but still...
