Post Posted: Wed Apr 27, 2011 7:32 pm — Post subject: Another Odd Door Run Impass

there's a problem a friendly explorer i've recently met in URU's been having with completing both door run garden ages. we've completed the challenge as usual and members of our group were able to pass the door and link through to get what they need no problem except for her.

at first, linking at the back of the tunnel behind the door was making her crash. but after trying multiple times to see her through she was reporting that after linking through at the back of the tunnel she would appear in her Relto with her book flashing at the bottom of the screen as though she'd been panic linked. all indications suggest she did trigger the link at the far end of the tunnel but that link appears to be behaving like a panic link and instead of sending her to the cave it sends her to her Relto. i asked her if she saw the cave at all and she said "no" so there's nothing to suggest that she's simply falling out of the gap in the cave when she gets there.

both Androme's Bevin and Vince2.5's Bevin exhibited both the crashing behavior and the panic link behavior only for her, all other explorers got through the doors fine and got what they came for. those were the only two bevins we tried. she also reported that she crashed on a previous door run prior to our series of runs.

so, we've done everything right to pass the challenge but something is preventing her from getting to the cave. she cannot complete the neighborhood garden ages. can anyone help with this?

Maybe something is corrupted? Try having her delete the tos.txt file from the install directory.

I spoke with my new acquaintance this evening and she and another had just finished up trying another door run for her with no dice... she did try deleting the TOS file.

this time, however, she reported having seen the cave briefly before immediately being panicked linked out.

does *anyone* have any further advice on this?

I dunno if it really counts as "advice", but CTDs aren't unusual after linking into the Bahro cave; not so sure about panic linking. It maybe depends on the definition of "briefly" - Those who got the CTDs usually had just enough time to grab the glyph, thus getting the desired result. But if we're talking about a momentary glimpse, then I don't know. It may sound odd but it could be that a video driver update will help.

Thanks, Mac_Fife, but I'm not familiar with what a "CTD" is?

Thought it meant something along those lines. Thanks Rusty_Russell.
