True cyan, which is the color complement of true red, sure as heck looks BLUE, at least according to this illusion. Smile

Four colour printing process is made up of CMYK: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black.

Let's do basic algebra!

C + Y = Green
C + Y = Blue + Yellow
C = Blue

IZ BLUE!

(Sorry. I'm a bit of a design geek.)

i'd say it's an off color mauve... but then i'd be yanking chains...

Cyan must have been something they thought up off the tops of their heads

Rand: "What do we call ourselves (i.e. our garage Razz )

Robyn: "I dunno, how bout a color."

Rand: "Yeah, sure. You're the artiste what color do you like."

Robyn: "erm... Let's go with Cyan."

Rand: "CYAN? oh why not..."

EDIT: glad i'm not the only nave what voted for DUK NEE Razz

cyan

1889, short for cyan blue (1879), from Gk. kyanos "dark blue, dark blue enamel, lapis lazuli," probably a non-IE word, but perhaps akin to, or from, Hittite *kuwanna(n)- "copper blue."

Cyan, blue with NO trace whatsoEver of yellow, magenta or black. In italian we call it azzurro or celeste (sky blue). Clicky clicky here.

And here is a nifty cyan illusion.

Main_Avvie's hypothetical rumination makes me wish random would pop in and tell us how it really happened.

this was mentioned in either the prima myst guide or the prima cc guide in the retrospective in the back... i'll check...

wouldn't mind hearing it from the horses mouth though Cool

Hello.
We express this color in this way in Japan.
「薄青緑」
We call it in English in this way.
“Light bluish green”

IIRC, Japanese didn't traditionally have a different word for blue and green. It was the same word. But they have different words now.
