Well.. Uh, not to harp on a point or anything...

Ok, I'll harp on it. I have an edited excerpt from a chat log at the DRC website:
http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=705

(My insincere apologies to Greydragon for "dragoning" him into this).

(05/21 15:03:14) Mattias: Uh... Those cries make me nervous...
(05/21 15:03:34) Mattias: Have the Bahro been here all the time?

(05/21 15:03:50) Mattias: Really...

(05/21 15:04:12) K'Dahta: they cries are creepy
(05/21 15:04:15) Greydragon: don't you see the one right behind you jesse?
(05/21 15:04:23) Mattias: Haha
(05/21 15:04:24) K'huunaah: lol
(05/21 15:04:26) Vortmax gasps!
(05/21 15:04:28) *Janine: look out Jesse!
(05/21 15:04:38) DanielPharos is frightened
(05/21 15:04:38) K'Dahta: *their
(05/21 15:04:41) Vortmax: It's gonna eat you!!
(05/21 15:04:43) Greydragon: haha i like that joke
(05/21 15:04:49) K'huunaah: lol
(05/21 15:05:11) Greydragon: though they are prob watching us now..
(05/21 15:05:17) Mattias: What about Yeesha? Where is she? (dumb question)
(05/21 15:05:19) K'huunaah: they always are
(05/21 15:05:21) Vortmax: Those crazy Bahro are always watching...
(05/21 15:05:24) Greydragon worries
(05/21 15:05:24) K'Dahta: i heard one scream just as we were leaving the egg room

(05/21 15:05:38) Legacy: loathsome...Wraiiithssss
(05/21 15:05:41) K'huunaah: oh, is that what it is...

....but first and foremost, we should be having fun chatting to each other, exchanging ideas and possibilites....we don't know how much longer, or more often we get to do this kind of thing with our favourite game series.

just thought i'd say. Laughing

BTW @ JWPlatt, I really like your volcano theory.... it would be a terrible thing to happen, yet THE most perfect way of "closing" the whole thing. (in my humble opinion). Rolling Eyes

After reading this discussion, I've become sure (don't ask me why) that Yeesha and the Bahro will play (almost) no role in the new Uru Live. If Myst V did happen (I like the idea that Dr.Watson could be the one who freed the Bahro), the Least and Yeesha are out of the scene.

Anyway, if the DRC wanted, they could have made direct references to Myst V, since IC Cyan is still a company that makes Myst-related games.

I like the volcano option, btw. Smile

I'll drag the diffrent versions of the great shaft into this as well (TPOTS & Myst 5)... are they both cannon ?

Myst 5 has the scafold, while the TPOTS version does'nt... is it just artistic licence?

Or has someone been working in D'ni since the DRC pulled out in 2004?

A group of D'ni returning to re-claim the cavern?

This is one of the major questions in the whole Live - EoA issue, though it's not been discussed as much as it deserves.

If EoA comes not many years after Uru, then some major work on the shaft was done while the DRC was already without funding... the question is... who did it?

Our good friend, artistic license?

A cheap getout clause, I admit. But it was a Myst game, after. And let's face it, it sure looked damn shiny. Very Happy

It sure did ... I particularly liked the moving floors shininess Very Happy. Must have stared at that for a good 20 minutes, having fun recognising the different parts of the shaft in the reflections

Ummm .... Yeah I’m easily amused Shocked

If some one has returned and is rebuilding, could the tremors be from the drills that the D'ni used ??

Ummm, artistic license doesn't quite explain it. After all, if it is just artistic license, then the great shaft really is as it was portrayed in Uru, which I don't is a safe way for you to enter the cavern. Especially without a relto.

I thought those scaffolds were higher up, and therefore invisible from where we stood.

(Note: If you have flymode in the Uru stand-alone game, you can see the shaft doesn't even exist.)

Remember that Uru: ABM (along with To D'ni and TPotS) and even D'mala aren't what the cavern was "really" like back in the old Uru Live. So, in that way, there's really no way to tell what is, or is not, real.

Ah, Sorry William but you can tell that the scaffold is an addition in Myst 5.

As when you drop towards the bottom of the Great Shaft in TPOTS, you can see that there is no scaffold, and as you fall downwards you can very much see the bottom of the shaft as well. I was a bit taken a-back recently of how detailed the bottom of the shaft is in TPOTS.

In Myst 5 the bottom of the shaft looks to be the same but with more detail. (Lamps, the features on the floor etc), the only difference in the physical area you see is the scaffold, and I’ve just noticed what seems to be a change in the configuration of the lifts (elevator).

So you can jump "near the bottom of the shaft" in TPOTS, and you take the lift (elevator), down to the same area in Myst 5.

To be fair now I’ve seen the lift configuration changes, I’m inclined to think that there is some artistic licence, some where Very Happy

Nice job, DarK. I'm surprised Whilyam made such a weak argument.

So, how do we propose (i.e. rampantly speculate) this with play out in Uru Live? Filled with lava for the reawakened volcano? DRC discovered to have been performing illegal covert operations despite the pullout? Or even more elevators to handle more people trying to get down to the renewed restoration?

we first see yeesha in Riven so that put Yeesha birht around 1806 our time
we see that uru takes place in 2004 this make Yeesha in uru about 198 years old and atrus about 249 years old.

the other thing is Myst V was not from the view point of the uru exploers but from the Stranger, as Atrus say old freind and Yeesha also say freind.

Not to be argumentative, but Yeesha is first seen as a baby in Myst III: Exile. She was born in 1815 by our calendar.

hehe Thanks RAWA I've been wondering that for a while now, so poeple that does explain some parts of Myst V. I know some poeple had argued that just cause Yeesha was 1/4 D'ni and Atrus 1/2 that they couldn't live as long as a normal D'ni. Well using Rawa's birdate for Yeesha we know she is 191 years old. If a 1/4 D'ni can live till 191 then why can't a 1/2 bloodded D'ni make 300?
