As you might have heard by now, this January the Guild of Greeters are back!
For those who haven’t paid attention, the Guild has been absent for some time, and the need has arisen for “New Greeters” to be in the cavern. I spoke to a former greeter about this and he said to go for it. Cyan also gave me their blessing to get started. The only problem was distinguishing a new greeters group from the old GoG, so we needed a new name. Above you will see the “New Greeters” logo. It signifies a new era of fandom in D’ni and is appealing and inviting to new players.
What did Cyan say about all this? Well they approve of the New Greeters! First off, I never asked for Cyan approval but I got it. Here's what Tor’i said on behalf of the Cyan team:
How will it all work? I will take an administrative role. I do not like the old Guild Master setup; it makes new-er greeters feel belittled and insignificant. From there everybody will be on the same level for decision making. While there’s no connection with the old Guild of Greeters web site, all former greeters will be offered their old jobs back if they so desire to hold them. For all new “New Greeters” the rules are simple:
1: You must have been an Uru Live player for at least one month and have a Myst Online Forums account. (This is for communication purposes)
2: You must be well versed in the ABM ages. (Teledahn, Gahreesen, Eder Gira, Eder Delin, and Kadish Tolesa)
3: You must have a clean track record. (This means you were never the cause of any in cavern “greifing” incidents. Any exceptions (Due to misunderstanding only!) must have approval first.)
4:You must be approved by the guild. (After the initial sign up period (Which will be handled by me), all submissions will be approved by a majority vote of the New Greeters)
5: Be able to greet at least once a week.
I believe in the open guild system. All members will be asked to do their duty to the New Greeters; however, attempting to replace or circumvent other guild's activities within the New Greeters without permission (From the guild in question; meaning you are also a member there.) first is prohibited. Members will be allowed even if they are a member of another guild; this does not mean the New Greeters will agree with all of those guild's opinions or ideas, it simply means that some of our members are interested in the fundamental ideas or activities that guild(s) provide.
THERE WILL BE NO LIMITS TO THE GREETERS SIGN UP. ANY AND ALL VALID APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED, AND NONE WILL BE TURNED DOWN WITHOUT A VALID REASON. (A valid reason does not include "Our ranks are too large right now for new members.")
If you do sign up and would like a New Greeters handle (for your sig), let me know and I’ll hook you up with one.
That’s all everybody. Now let’s make the New Greeters a prosperous guild!
Nuff said, just wanted to tease you guys. Be at the All Guilds Meeting this Saturday to find out!

Hello Trekluver,
Good timing! I have heard back from everyone and it is cool for you to use the word "Greeters" for your greeter activities. We do appreciate you checking this out ahead of time and we hope all goes well Smile
Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.
Thanks!
Tor'i
