Post Posted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 12:50 am — Post subject: Zero line around the Great Zero

I have noticed something odd about Great Zero coordinates around the floor of the Great Zero area. The angle markings on the floor around the neutrino beamer show a zero line aligned with the main entry stairs and GZ antechamber. However, the KI coordinates as read in this area indicate a zero line in the opposite direction.

It is difficult to be certain because of the limited view, but I think the orientation of the Great Zero places the red flashing beacon (on top of the antechamber) in line with the Great Stair in the cavern. You can see the beacon from the city and it appears to be on the side nearest the Great Stair. In other words, I think the angle markings on the floor of the Great Zero are correct. So why would the KI coordinates be wrong in this area? Is it some peculiar field effect in proximity to the neutrino beamer?

Any thoughts on this issue? Has this been discussed before?

The Great Zero line does go through the stairs and chamber, they somehow got the coordinates backwards in MOUL.

To be accurate, the KI coordinates are only backwards in the Great Zero courtyard. They are correct in the city.

Although this is a minor error / inconsistency, I guess it is something that should be fixed in some future update. When? Who knows?

During the GT-MOUL Era I sent a ticket on Cyan's support system for this. If I remember correctly they answered that this was not a problem/bug/inconsistency but is was "by design".
Again, I'm not 100% sure, because it was a lot of years ago and the ticket system was emptied when GameTap cancelled MOUL so I can't check. But I remember my confusion when I received that answer.

That sounds like a bad response. Someone may have misunderstood you or maybe it was read by someone who didn't really understand about the coordinate system?

I know I had at least one ticket where I had a response that something was fixed, when it wasn't even changed at all.

It's possible they didn't understand my question, I don't know

This sounds like it would be an easy fix, if we had the Max files. I can't say for sure of course (since we don't have the Max files to check)
