Maybe while you're doing this, you should consider bumping the vault node IDs to 64-bit integers? I have no idea how close the vault is to overflowing the current 32-bit ID field, but I do know the vault becomes very bloated very quickly. I suspect that when we do overflow, things are going to get really ugly.

That would be a much bigger change and affect lots of areas - instead of just one small message between the linking book and the bookshelf. Something for the future.

That could be a different issue, Charura - If you meant that the same avatar seems to have points values that alternate between two figures then that has ocurred before, a long time back.

Yes.. that is my reference..It is annoying because I've had this before and when posting them to a particular 'hood' it takes forever to clean out the excess..see DRC(1000) in game, for instance..Char Gearz on the board....

I can't use the Nexus on my primary avatar. It ignores me. I can use my Relto linking books though.

I created a new avi today under a new account so that I could run two avis at the same time from two different computers. Imagine my suprise when my new avi tried to link to her new hood and the book kept closing on her - without linking. Naturally I came straight here looking for answers and - low and behold - found this thread. Laughing

Now - since my new avi doesn't have a KI yet because she can't link to her new hood - will Chogan's fix on Monday work for her as well? I shall patiently wait till Tuesday evening to find out. Wonder what my gigantic KI number will be? Cool

oops - thanks for your reply to the question I edited out Johnsojc - I guess that means that the Cavern will implode once open source really takes off and we start getting zillions of new players? Twisted Evil

Every object in the game uses a id number. Your player ID is one of these numbers. Think of all the objects you interact with. Think of all the marker games and KI messages you have. Multiply that by all the player IDs. Big Number! The world ends when the ID number goes over 4 billion and change. Chogon hinted that we will not be there for some time.

This little problem is caused by one piece of the program passing an ID number to a variable that is too small to handle it. The code has to be modified in a new build to fix it.

Great... I have been having issues with this too, and I have been so looking forward to getting stuck into MO, this issue has been detracting from the huge effort that everyone has been putting into this Smile
