I stumbled upon a piece of music from a Myst Bit Torrent (I was only looking for realMyst tracks - honest! I had already legally bought everything else on CD) called "Aveara Intro Theme."

I have no idea what this was, or where it came from. The only credit it gave was "Myst", under Artist.

Since I have no idea how to post the track here, I'll describe it.

It fades in with a woman chanting in what I assume is D'ni (I distinctly heard the word "bahro" mentioned at least twice) over synthesizer music. Then, a woman's voiceover:

"It's been months since it happened. And so much happened so fast. It's difficult to keep track of it all. Yet, remarkably, I can still remember how it began, and when I do, I'm wrapped with feelings of warmth and peace, sensational adventure, and terrible fears. When I became employed by the D'ni Restoration Council, to explore the mysterious caverns below, I never would have imagined the events to follow, changing my life beyond my wildest dreams. But certainly not for Robert [my senior? Lysenior?]. His dreams were understatements for the ambitions he had, especially when he discovered the book that led to this. I'm still amazed at the coincidence of it all. It could've been anyone down in that tunnel, but it was us. And one of the most adventurous chapters in D'ni history was about to not only to be discovered, but to be in the making, as well."

Does anyone know what this is?

The initial chanting isn't D'ni. It's Hebrew. You have good timing in posting the link, because it's still Passover :)

I imagine the vocals were a placeholder for D'ni to be written later.

Nostalgia BLAST! Boy, 2003 sure was a good time to be a Myst fan. Aveara was one of the first Myst-related projects I stumbled upon back when I played the games for the first time. I scoured the internet for any new info I could find, and found what looked like an interactive trailer for a movie. Being relatively new to any sort of geeky obsession, this was unlike anything I'd ever seen; the creativity and similar ambiance to Myst blew me away. Seeing it again, perhaps I was remembering it through rose-tinted glasses, but I still think it holds up pretty dang well for a fan project.

And speaking of realMyst music, I believe I know which torrent you may have used. I have a better quality version of the realMyst trailer music, minus the voiceover to boot, if anyone's interested!

The word you can't make out is Lysander.

Thanks, everyone.

It's too bad this project was (apparently) abandoned. It looked like it had a lot of potential and promise.

I know it's a bit late but this really brought back some great old memories. Out of curiosity is there anywhere I can get the main theme (Icarus) without having to sign up?
