In the original URU, there was a puzzle associated with the light garden. It involved pushing the colored buttons on the rail in a certain sequence and something happened (don't remember what). Has that puzzle been removed in the Live version?

I've been playing Live for about two weeks now and although much of the scenery is the same, game play is quite different. I like it so far.

The purpose of the puzzle was to unlock the egg room in Kirel so that you could get to the stones leading to the main parts of Ae'gura (which were blocked by barricades). Since Ae'gura is open and the egg room is already unlocked there is no reason to use the lights. There IS still an easter egg with them that can be done on the live version which involves a long series of very specific instructions in various Ages. But for the normal gameplay the light garden serves no purpose.

Welcome to the cavern btw. Don't be afraid to come to the public instances. The journey is a lot more fun with friends Smile

The Kirel egg room is still locked, as is the Kirel classroom. I played with the lights some in MOUL hoping to get a response, but never did.

The clue you used in the offline game is gone in MOULa as well.

I love the small differences between the many different versions of Uru. It sure can get confusing, though.

Post Posted: Sun Apr 22, 2012 3:36 am — Post subject: Bob Ogoobo LIght Garden and the Egg Room

I was recently in Ae'gura City publically discussing the stand alone "Path of the Shell" game that had the Bob Ogoobo Light Garden (Blue, Green & Orange) puzzle switches. When the blue, orange, blue, orange, green, orange, orange, blue, orange, sequence was used, it switched the power on to the door for access to the floating "egg" shaped scultpure in the center of 5 surrounding view rooms. All the view rooms had doors that could be closed.

NOTE: I honestly don't remeber if I used the Bob Ogoobo puzzle in my bevin or Kirel because it's been so long ago I played the original stand alone 1st release version.

Messing around and wondering what purpose having closing doors would serve, I eventually noticed one door seemed to stay closed much longer than the others. And it prompted me to time it and the other doors, to discover that their times closed varied enough for me to try something.
To see if I could close all the doors before any of them opened up again.
I wasn't really expect anything to happen other than I was curious to know if I could do it.

NOTE: In my discussion with an explorer, the delayed time ball puzzle in the Watcher's Pub came up to help to convince what I was saying about the "Egg Room" might have some validity. Since both delt with noticing the time delay in a puzzle.

Obviously, I closed the door I timed to stay closed the longest first and reltoed out and back to the next doors longest time closed until I was able to get all the doors closed all at once.
The result was I gained acces to the center sculpture and a link that I discovered was to the 2nd floor security room in Gahreesen Age.
That building with the power room switches and gear and those other doors with the green lights on them that light up but didn't open when you went by or infront of them.

Inside the security room I found another link book that took me to the outside upper portion of Gahreesen where I could run around and play in all the streams and water falls.
My telling about these facts was taken by most explorers to be me making it all up.
I have since been trying to find time to get my old computer and hardrive working again with that old game to retrieve the pictures I took of me in those upper Gahreesen areas.

NOTE: I repeatedly reminded explorers it was the first (1) version Path of the Shell release couple with a free upgrade CD Cyan sent to me after the Online game had closed down. Given the CD upgrade, this may be a Path of the Shell game versionI few have and/ or found and worked out the egg room door puzzle. I since bought the Complete Chronicles game version, but never played it, since I had already played Path of the Shell with the upgraded Er'canna and Ahonay Ages.
So I have no reference to knowing if the later release kept these features I'm mentioning in this post.

Oh and I too was lost in the differences between MOUL, a and the stand alone differences for a very long time.
I kept trying to do the egg room's time doors puzzle, until I realized the onlive version had taken it out and all the doors had the same times. Even with explorers standing inside each viewer room it couldn't be done.
So no outside upper Gahreesen age access in Online game.

Jahmen Myst

P. S. Do I dare mention the door in Kadish shadow & lights room worked and linked me out to the Ae'gura City's Great Stairs in front of the door just below the landing?

Because you are. There are no undiscovered secrets in the offline game, and flymode can easily check both the interior of the Eggroom and the Gahreesehn wilderness. From memory, neither possesses collision detectors.

I never said you were making it up, even though I find it hard to believe, which is why I asked you to send me a picture of you inside the Egg Room with the Egg. It is good to hear you are trying to do that.

I'm sorry, but this I don't believe either. If you fly too far from the 2nd fortress, I can tell you, everything goes black.
(I tried it in Uru CC with Drizzle installed using the Offline KI's flymode)

Post about collision points, Uru CC, fly mode and other game versions checked with drizzle and what not.

I only know I didn't make it up and the egg room doors time puzzle played out just as I said it did in the Original 1st Path of the Shell game version release [ EDIT CORRECTION: MYST URU AGES BEYOUND MYST & FREE URU TO D'NI EXPANSION PACK WITH ONLINE DOWNLOAD UPDATE VERSIONS] with the online link sign up game option that closed down shortly after it started.
I RECEIVED FROM Cyan the download updates and was sent the free upgraded/ updated CD [EXPANSION PACK] that I loaded and gave me Er'cana and Ahnonay aspects with the numbers to find with the Watchers Pub imager with blocks you built from those sections you found on the game age walls in places and later used finished pattern inside on the fire place in Myst to get out of. No matter though. . .

I will continue to try and get the harddrive working to recover those Ki pitures I had and post the picture I took that will confirm the area above Gahreesen is solid and playable. The upper Gahreesen link book inside the security room had some kind of Gaheesen temple reference. The arrival point I had to come down from was hidden way up above.

You aren't talking about this room are you?

And I really hope you can find your pictures because no one is going to believe you without some kind of proof.

Why did Cyan send you a free PotS cd in the first place? It was sold as an expansion. The only free upgrade was To Dni, though i remember that being a big download patch (I had a 26.4k connection Laughing ), not a CD.

I have ABM, ToDni, PotS, and CC versions available to test this, I just need to see what version you are actually talking about, since I don't remember, nor see why they would, them sending out free PotS.

Edit: About the HD, try SpinRite, seems to work miracles sometimes.

Seriously? Gahreesen forest exploreable in an unreleased special edition of Path of the Shell? ...seriously?

If this guy isn't trolling us big time, than this is super interesting.

Looking forward to any evidance for any of your claims. A word from a Cyantist is also welcomed.

The patch UruToD'ni.exe was 173 MB (181,990,087 bytes). I remember those 4 and 5 hour downloads with no fondness at all. What was that? 5 or 6 minutes per MB?

I'm not ready to dismiss this out of hand as impossible, however. Back in 2004 (when I knew absolutely nothing about the game), I remember doing several things online in 2 or 3 areas that are not available in the game now. Since I have no proof, I won't bother detailing them even though I remember them distinctly.

Took me about 28 hours straight. Shocked

Didn't get any phone calls that day. Twisted Evil

I think my first modem did two speeds... 75 baud and 150 baud. When I finally got a REAL computer, I dug deep into my pockets and got my first 14.4k modem... almost Heaven! When I needed something better, I would "borrow" a 28.8k from work. My last dial-up was a 56K modem... the Cadillac! Finally, my local cable provider introduced broadband and I jumped in with both feet and never looked back. Now I have a fiberoptic hookup box in my front yard from that telephone company even though I am still using the hookup from my cable TV provider.

And why did I do all this? Why, to play Uru of course! Even though the box I tried to use when the "Great Mistake" let me online back in 2004 only let me take a step every 5 to 15 seconds (I never made it off Ferry Landing). Most of the time I was in that group of a dozen or so avatars stuck on the link in spot.

I'm always interested in a good Uru story, even if you can't prove it. Please share!

The best I can recall.... (and this might be total insanity on my part...)

Somehow, I was able to enter the Palace and walk all the way through it and out the door in the passage between the Hall of Kings and the library. The floor was solid. I'm not sure but I think the main door in Tokotah alley either opened via a switch or approaching it from the inside. I think I entered using the small door to the right of the main door.

Another explorer told me about a jump that could be made to get to the landing on the far side of the closed gate down in the Ferry Terminal tunnel (where the Bahro stone is). Once there, there was a switch next to the door that opened the gate so you could pass through, although the gate was always closed once you entered the tunnel.

The last thing I remember was taking some route that brought you to an interior passage and a door. If you pushed the door open, you moved a Bahro rock carving like the one in the high Bevin balcony out of the way and ended up on some balcony. I could not swear it was in Bevin though.

These details are stuck in my mind but the circumstances that led to them are just fuzz which makes me doubt my own recollections.

BTW (and more OT) BOBOGOOBO is used in Kirel to open the Egg room. GOOGGO is the Easter Egg code to open the Egg Room in Bevin. (In PotS/CC of course)
