Post Posted: Tue Nov 09, 2010 9:19 am — Post subject: Lost Age and Bevin in Quest's Bevin

Post on the Imager screen! Shocked What is that about! Quest!

I found Simon Templer in the City and asked him about the post he made in the Quest's Bevin.

He said that those that went before are calling the shots now! It's not his fault!
The Spy & Quest said the same thing to me! What did I expect they would do!

I should have seen that coming from them and realized they would do somethig once they learned I had released my Journal!
The course has be set now and only time will tell!

The plot thickens, then. What exactly was in this journal of yours, and to whom did you release it? What do you know of this subject?

I have been intrigued by the posting in Quest's Bevin, and my own subsequent investigation. There seems to be more here than meets the eye.

I've been to Quest's Bevin but don't know anything else about the story. Can anyone give me background information?

As far as I know the rest of the story is shrouded in mystery. After doing some investigation I am beginning to get a glimpse of things, but I am not quite sure it is prudent for me to divulge anything at this time. If you look into this matter on your own, I think it will not be too difficult for you to get started in the right direction. What I do know is that it is more than a simple hoax.

But if anyone has any more information they are willing to share, I would be glad to hear it. I don't know how much Those That Went Before are letting get out.

Post Posted: Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:21 am — Post subject: My Journal Journey

Yes, my stolen Journal was recovered!
And I was persuaded to share it with other explorers thru a series of Quest Journal stories.
I hadn't expected it to be this way, those that went before have taken control of the Journal Quests.
They have decided to use them to test the worthiness of those that might follow.
They have constructed a series of Clue Quests to test the resolve and integrity of those explorers who dare to follow in their footsteps, as my journal's will slowly reveal the way.

Already, most explorers have fallen away from the journey's path. Betrayed by their own prideful ways, unable to ask for help or share the task with others.
It is not for the proud and haughty, for this journey's end has serious consequence for the entire inhabitance of a planet!
Already has begun the moans and complaints over the difficult Clue Quests and their difficulties in trying to find and locate the next holder of a Clue Quest & Journal.
Did they really think it would be so easy? Do they really have such little patience and resolve?

It seems clear to me now that very few explorers will with stand the test of time and ingenuity it will take to find their way!
Maybe those that went before were right after all.

The above is answered as one plays thru the Quest Series of games and the mysteries unfold.
I have been intrigued by the posting in Quest's Bevin, and my own subsequent investigation. There seems to be more here than meets the eye.

Yes, the Quest Stories unfold a tale of what happen to some of the explorer’s that stayed behind after MOUL, last closed the Cavern down.

And . . . the Lost Bevin & Age they found . . .

Yes, The Quest Series was designed as a Cavern Event for Explores to share and do together, but only the Clue Quests and not the Quest Journal Stories. Jahmen's Journal Quest Stories were not meant for explorers to give out to others freely, as they are the rewards to those that earned them by solving the Clue Quest Game Puzzles to them.

cedward1, since I have no record of any of my Avatars giving you any of the Quests,(Not that you couldn’t have slipped thru my tracking notes) I must assume you are attempting to play with or from others already playing the Quest Series. Again, the Journal Story Quest are rewards not meant to be given out or shared with others. However, the Clue Quest Games to get them are meant to be shared and done by many players working together, since they are designed to be too difficult for any individual to complete alone. The Quest Series is a Multi-player Bevin Groups & Teams Event.

WHAT YOU AND MOST DIDN'T KNOW:
My Quest Series of Stories and Clue games were a 4 week real time event that ended now.
I created several Avatars to interact in IC (In-character) play within the Quest Series Story Game Theme.
A few players are stilling working their way thru the 4 Clue Quest game puzzles (Clue Quests are markers with text clues to math, letters to words and words to sentence puzzle solves) to get Journal Story Reward Quests as they progress thru solving them. The Story Quests are the rewards like Yeesha pages for solving the Clue Quest puzzles.
[NOTE] I am continuing to provide the progressive Quests for those already started in the Quest Series.
Perhaps when OHB gets back up and running and if he is interested to, the Series can be offered again to all using his Bots to Auto-run it, being that the text clue markers are simple Questions & Answers that the Bots could handle.
That should be fun! "My responses are limited; you must ask the right questions."
Thanks to all that persisted in playing the Quest Series.

The Original Series was ended with the 5 Journal Quest Stories due to the planned "REAL TIME" playing time restraint.
There were 10 Jahmen's Journal Quest Stories Originally written in total for the Series and 8 Clue Quest Games planned. The Quest Series now has been Completed with a Total of 12 Journal Stories and 6 Clue Quests

My Quest Series was meant to generate Multiple Players interest in working collectively together on making further Clue Quests with me for mine and collaborative efforts with other explorer Series of stories, puzzles, both or other stuff.
Annabelle's Series of Quests provides an excellent tutorial style of Quests to ALL the amazing out of the ordinary to get to places and its connection to my series being that most of my Clue Quest Markers are located in hard to reach out of play places that Annabelle's Quests (and others) can and will teach and develop players skill sets to reach.
Note: Annabelle's Quest Series is one of the most extensive body of works I know of to date to help explores develop their skills along with all the other great explorers Quest works that make up the mass of MOUL Quests.
La'sahna is one of the best visually artistic Quest makers I have seen. I call her quests "Art Quests"!
The markers also create a cool barrage of sounds when they are collected quickly.

My Series was meant to be extremely difficult for the COMMUNITIES Bevin's and teams to play through for really challenging fun!
Annabelle's Series I believe will become one of the standard must learn series of Quests for all players to eventually master, especially to play thru my Series of Quests, since I intend to continue to build more Clue Quests using her Quests as a foundation to mine.
Grimhilde is another noteworthy maker of Quests with You Tube Tutorials. In fact, "You Tube" provides an abundance of works to teach and learn from. Update: Grim evidently got the Cyan boot! Grim did have game skills noteworthy of tho.
My hope and aim is eventually all of us can start working together on Quest Series projects using some of the most talented players for some collective works that will become a Series of Series Quests. ADVANCED content for players that eventually master all the original MOUL game content and have no further content left to play. I can DREAM! Rolling Eyes

My ROCKS Clue Quest has been completed for Jahmen's 6,7,& 8 Story Quest installments.
I intend to send it out to all the explorers that completed the Quest Series content to date to further their journey.

I set up my Planet Dragonia.com Website with a help Page of the Watcher's Section Books to assist explorers with their Quest. You don't have to use the assist Page to solve the Quest, though doing so would make playing and solving it much easier and faster for the impatient explorer.

I also posted some Intro Planet Dragonia Age Story along with a old draft background history.

Maybe enough interest will generate more Posting of what I have developed for building the actual Age for Open Source.
I did develop a story line with all the puzzle logic's.

Post Posted: Mon Apr 23, 2012 8:09 am — Post subject: Simon Templer KI# 07297522 - BROKEN?

Cool Simon Templer KI# 07297522 is the first explorer with a Quest in the Jahmen's Clue and Story Quest Series of Games.
He gives out his Kadish Age Journey Quest to start explorers on their Quest of Story Journals and Clue Quest Challenges.
I have been so busy making the additional content for the Quest Series and assisting those playing, that I hadn't really noticed Simon has not received a single KI -Mail request from any explorers since 11/28/2011. Shocked
Not a quest or even a picture. Crying or Very sad Not a single thing to date has come into his KI Incoming.

Either he is having the longest KI glitch in history or the interest of explorers to play my Quest Series is Zero! Rolling Eyes

My Quest Series Statistics from tracking the playing explorers progress reveals that 90% drop out and quit before completing the second Clue Quest
“VAULT SECRETS” challenge.
The other 10% succeed because they pass the basic requirements necessary to play (they get help).
Jahmen’s Quest Series is a Multi-Explorer game play challenge with the level of content difficulty designed for several explorers working together for the solve.

To test Simon’s KI# 07297522 to know for sure he really hasn’t received any requests what so ever, I ask explorers here to please send him an "In-Game" KI-mail message request to test and post here that you have done so for all to see and know.

Jahmen Thanks You in advance.

....I'm bitter right now Sad

I wrote you a post to help you, talking about my experience with a complex project. The issue is the latency glitch of this forum...I lost it when I hitted "Submit", the server asked me for identification since it had lost me

I should have wrote in Word first to first correct my mistakes and not LOOSE it Confused

Well I feel it's important though. I'll rewrite it and post it for tomorrow. I'm too bitter to rewrite it right now

Here it goes Cool

Hi Jahmen,

I really do appreciate that you took time to write something on another explorer‘s thread (calroger's) to tell about my quests collection.

When I first wrote you the text that disappeared (see previous post), I wasn’t even aware of that post you wrote about my works.

About complex works:

You, I and few others are net givers in this community. The net givers cover a large array of passions and styles which included for some (you & I are good examples): marker quests. We put all of our passion in our project and naturally we would like that explorers embark with us. There’s stuff easier to get followers, DMR concerts for example. You won’t see me in the DMR for the concert quite often but as long as the host & co-host are Mouski, Christine or Musica I will « attend » the concert in my remote age. We can also think of the Fun House events where many attend them.

When it comes to marker quests, we are talking of a whole different environment. People who play them have to be willing to do something for a gratification. That’s the main issue. Instant gratification is not part of your works or mine. On my very first quests, I was expecting « the whole cavern » to follow me. « If I can do it you can do it too! » was my scheme of thought.

I was spreading my quests to the entire cavern with the precious help of Abjab who did that night long. I couldn’t be more thankful to this sweet hearted man. With the time pass, I realise that it hinders more than it helps. On 100 quests distributed, 90 were distributed to people with no interest in them. Like I say, people want instant goodies. « Mom! I want some candies! Now Right Now! », you say that when you are a child, you act like that as an adult.

So you have to concentrate on a niche market. Mine is the hardcorers; the explorers that want to go the farthest possible, the highest possible. What drove me in doing my stuff is my curiosity. I want to know what’s there. Ok. Now I want to know what’s over there. Ok. Now what about that place? Etc. To play my quest you must be inhabited by the same curiosity, have skills because we are « messing » in areas not intended by game designers. You have to « see » what’s not visible (the collision walls & invisible planes). If I say this in a description: « find the wall support then ride it going to your right side ». If you don’t « see » the collision wall, you’ll simply quit not knowing what in the world I’m talking about. « What wall? All what I see is nothingness » an alpha explorer would say. Instinct & feeling are 2 qualities to have playing my quests.

You now.

You are making quests of another kind. You bring in a series of quests 2 approaches: Mouski’s approach of quests & Annabelle’s approach of quests (I know Mouski does also quests like mine but he is better known for his mind-bending puzzles quests)

Playing your quests, I know I played some of them already, ask for certain qualities: logic deduction, interaction with characters, skydiving skills, loving reading a story. So you are covering more than I do, more than Mouski does. What is your niche market? I helped an explorer who had hard time with skydiving stuff. You were astonished at the speed it took me to reach all the markers in your first 2 quests. I tried to play it alone and I fell doing that because of the logic deduction part. Tell me to climb to the moon to grab a marker, I will. Give me 3 clues and tell me to find a secret key to unlock the next part, I’m lost.

You solved part of the issue with the team aspect of your project: « build teams » you told us. The mighty cooperation in URU!!! I have reserve on that. Despite the fact that many explorers are talking about having more interactive ages and so on, that’s talk! I always felt that the vast majority are loners.

I made 3 quests that I called « community quests ». I only had, so far, 2 feedbacks on them. The first came real early and it was 2 skydivers who actually played « Teledahn 4th Level » and enjoyed it and they told me about. I was pleased. The second came from a French skydiver who played alone helping himself with a second computer. He was astonished by what he saw that day; he played « Ahnonay Space Landing ». This is far from my expectations of the success I planned for my « community quests ». I made them because many told me: « I hate marker quests because it’s a lonely activity ». First, that’s not true, you can always play along with someone else so you can help each other progress, and, second, you have 3 quests not playable in single player mode. There’s no way to get a valuable result alone. I won’t even tell what the guy who took on « Ahnonay Space Landing » experienced just because it’s the ultimate experience. In Ahnonay, that’s the best! But you have to work real hard to get the candy! This is the price not many are willing to pay.

Let me come back on your team aspect…I was a bit bitter from what I experienced because I always felt like I was the « Go get the marker good doggy « man » » of the team. Once I had worked to get the marker and give out the content, it was over for me! Now the « brain, the valuable half » would be able to work the puzzle out of it and give you (you Jahmen) the answer, leaving me clueless.

I know it’s a bit harsh but this is how I felt. I wasn’t team up with a buddy I was indeed there to help her but it was really just that. The « team » can be a good alternative as long as there is a good chemistry between the 2 participants. Playing alone in your series can be done but then you must be as good at skydiving stuff as you are at logic deduction.

Then there is the whole aspect of time.

Some will be able to play online 1.5 hour a week, some for 50 hours. Some will spend 95% of their time to their stuff (for example: me), some will go real slow; some will go as fast as they can.

I sent 20 or so quests to some explorers and they have material for years to come. I sent 142 quests to some explorers and they keep up with my pace. It’s understandable. At the end of my last & 7th release in May 2012, I will have published 162 quests. Give me 1 month with only 30 evenings; I can play all of them. Some are nearly as skilled as I am so keeping up with me it’s an easy task.

So you have to expect that some will take forever to finish one quest where other will come the next day with the complete solution and a big smile on their face. It depends on many factors, time is one of them, and the personality is another.

Then the URU community evolves.

I already hear some voices: « URU evolving... let me laugh! ». It is and it is big time. Many people in real life (in cavern too inevitably) tend to forget. What was happening yesterday? « I dunno »…How come you don’t know? People have low memory, I don’t. The Cavern community in March 2010 is dead. It’s past history. The reality the cavern was in March 2010 won’t exist anymore. Not more than the cavern reality of September 2011. Each week, something happens. An actor comes into the play, an actor quits the scene. What is the biggest change we saw since the cavern reopened: the open-source.

It changes the whole cavern community. There are small changes here and there on an everyday basis but the open-source has been the one which had the biggest impact. We can’t any more talk of a «cavern» but «caverns». What does it implies? It implies a spread, a split.

Explorers are looking elsewhere, some even staying there forever. I have in my mind some names that I can no longer associated with MOULa. They come in MOULa for some event or meeting, that’s all. Their home is elsewhere.

I have to live with that, you’ll have to live with that too.

Some clearly told me: « I really appreciated all the efforts you put in your quest making BUT I’m not interested in them anymore, I can play easily in the same areas on other shards. ». That’s the crude reality. On TOC MOUL & on Gehn there’s the monkey climbing. I call that monkey climbing because that’s what it is. As long as you find a slope, you stand on it, you don’t slip, and you literally stand. I don’t say I dislike that. I enjoyed it, and each time I go on these shards I do some monkey climbing. What I’m saying is that the candy store in those shards is not locked. You don’t need to work real hard to have a candy there.

People are all over the caverns. You must try to do customer service at all the time to have fidelity in MOULa. If someone needs help (and he or she is willing to help himself/herself in return), you must free time and help. If someone is asking for a query, try to answer as fast as you can. Someone who feels being left aside will quit. The best way to have someone quit your stuff is to ignore them. There was someone in this community who was forced to quit it and that person was acting like that. That wasn’t a good idea at all. There’s a limit to help offering. Like I said, they must help themselves.

One day someone started with me a marker quest I made. Here’s what was the conversation : « Ok what do I do? » him, « Well read what’s inside the marker » me, « Ok then what? » him, « I’m telling to run-jump to the next marker, I think, do it » me, he jumped, « Ok then what? » him, « well… read what I wrote, I dunno, I don’t recall » me, « Ok, what marker? » him, « the next one » me, he jumped, « Ok then what? » him, … it didn’t take me to long to find a better activity somewhere else to do and leave him there. He was literally wasting my time!

But for the explorers willing, you must be there. You must also ask. Because some will naturally be inclined to ask questions and some will be shy as Hell. You would be surprised how many time I ended up helping someone who seemed to be at ease since they didn’t ask any questions. Some are just too shy. « I’m not bothering Annabelle, she will laugh at me or find the question stupid » which statement I couldn’t be more in discordance with. I will always try to help as much as I can. The more the person is willing to learn the more it will be easy for them and me. I always adapt my style.

Some like complete explanations point by point. Some are « Get to the point! ». Often, I’m giving info and while I’m doing that the guy succeed doing what I was not even saying because I wasn’t ready to disclose that in my speech. The worst thing to do is to say: « I’ve done it; you should do it as easily as me ». The guy will hate you forever. Take time to show it. And also you must make him or her feel comfortable. When I was shown tricks by Shellshock, Watashi or JohnB a long time ago, my biggest fear was when it came to me doing what they were showing me.

I was panicking all alone behind my keyboard. What would they think of my poor performance? 20 minutes later, not able to achieve the « simple » task those guys can achieve: « They must be tired to see me doing so poorly, not even able to achieve the simple task they showed me ». My hands were sometimes covered with sweat and I had river going down my spine. I’m the reference now. Everyone who does skydiving stuff knows me, maybe not personally but at least knows my name. The new definition of URU Cavern’s Skydiving includes my name somewhere in it.

I know your quests are part of a game and you shouldn’t help your participants but let me tell you, find time to help them even the littlest help. If not, the flame will die.

Fix realistic goal.

If I have 10 explorers playing & enjoying my quests, I’m happy. I don’t need more. I won’t find more anyway. The « give me a candy » reality won’t change. Michel, a French skydiver, is running a complex game with 2 or 3 teams. That’s it. It’s better to concentrate on few than trying to reach the mass. Let me go back on 2 major events : concerts in DMR, Mouski, Christine & Musica can expect at most 40 attendees, it mostly turn around 15-20, the Fun House events : the Grey Hats included, I never saw more than 60 attendees, it mostly turn around 20-25.

So try to loyalize some explorers and keep the flame alive.

Annabelle, Thanx for the time in giving me this feed back.

And yes your Quest Collection is definative! You are very well known! . . . I know I love ya!

Hmmm My Quest Series started out as a real time 4 week (month) promoted event that ended due to the extreme amount of time it took me to run it.
(Abjab's had already been taken up with his promotion of your Quests and couldn't help me.)
He also never had or took the time to get with me to find out how my Quest Series worked and couldn't demonstrate it to the few he gave it to & played with.
As with friends, he did make me mad on a few occasions concerning my Quest Series, as I got some more than harsh critisisms, but I get over it cause he is a truly great guy, friend and positive influence in the cavern.

Each Quest, when presented to explorers had some basic guidance to it being a Multi-Player Game, most ignored!

The Quest Series, Clue Quests marker text would explain who the next explorer is to interact with or the puzzle idea was to discover the next explorers name for the next interaction.
In truth, the Series and Clue Quest games are simply to HARD for single players to handle and there are very few explorers in MOUL,a that play together at Quest Games. Most Quest Games, by nature tend to have an expectation to being single play.
The Quest Series was made for several explorers to play and solve together. That was the killer requirement to it all.

Annabelle, your team effort made your team succeed, where most failed! If that helps you to feel better about it.
And yes the speed with which you found and dispatched my Clue Quests Markers was impresive in the extreeme.
NOTE: Jalak Gems was completed and possible only from your efforts and while you might have felt the lesser in the team effort, I would beg to differ with you as to the reality was your abilities to find and get the markers was critical!
And yet you felt badly because you played a fetch role of marker text than a partner to the solve.
Your telling me this has given me insight in that teams or groups of explorers must have a sharable platform in which to freely exchange the marker clue text information and work ideas in trying to solve it together.

I thought the real fun to the Quests series would be the part when explorers worked together on solving the marker text clues.
Again tho, the failing is the partnering factor and shareable information platform.
If the team or group don't skype, email or have some forum with with to share and exchange the Marker Text Information to the Quest, then their efforts will fail.
I never had thought much about the skill set requirements for my Quest Series until you posted.
Isobel to date is the only explorer to play thru the Quest Series alone to the Clue Quest Jalak Gems.

Skydiver abilities, Puzzle logic solving abilities and most importantly, run a Chatlog so the clue text information can be organized to make sense of it and shared between explorers.
The alternative is to copy all the marker text from off the KI screen with scroll back.

You made a very good point about the candy NOW! And that few players play together in MOUL,a thses days.

I tracked those with an excel file who played and got a graph about percentages.
They seem to match your 90 % Quit factor.

I have and still do play the quests with those wanting the company and nudges.
