Hey Folks
I've been floating this around to various people, but I thought I would post it here because I think Myst fans will generate an interesting discussion on the topic. I'm compiling a loooong list of inspiration sources from all media, and I want to get input from as many different people as I can. So what I want from you is anything you can think of that could inspire cool ideas or art or what-have-you. For instance:
interesting/oddball/remarkable games from any era/platform
books, short stories, comics, poems, sidewalk chalk
movies, TV episodes, youtube videos
songs, scores, whole albums
etc ... anything that is remarkable or interesting to you. The less well known, the better!
Like I said, I'm posting it here because I think we Myst fans are a diverse group with many different backgrounds who can come up with an interesting list (and I imagine people will have fun seeing and discussing the suggestions of others). In the interest of disclosure though, I will say that I am doing this in my capacity as an indie game dev, and will be using this list to help provide inspiration for our next game (yes, sometimes indies get to spend a week being paid to play games and read books instead of making games. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it
).
