...and the question just becomes more interesting. Perhaps it is all of these things and they all just fortuitously fell into place.

Thanks for posing the question to Rand, Troi.

As with many of the plays on words with in the Cavern/ community this one simply fits.
A Key opens doors, and your Ki opens your ages.
Ahnonay...annoying
Gahreesen..Garrison
D'ni ...deny
E'rcanna....er...can I?
Kirel...Ki will
Bahro...borrow

and several others....These are my own observances, and some I have heard others in the Cavern mention.....they are just fun.

Um, there is no connection between sen and senahren. Just like there is no connection between monk and monkey.

Says YOU. Perhaps you haven't heard about the sacred confusimians? Razz

Anyways, I suspect it is what most of us think, that when they were working back in DIRT or what they came up with a device that you'd need to get to open doors. It didn't have a name, but was called the key because that's what it did: unlocked doors.

In turn, when they came to the point of Uru, the name stuck, but to make it "canon-friendly" because the D'ni didn't speak english, they called it the KI (so it was still called the 'key' as a sort of reference) but explained it away by the similarity of such to the D'ni number three, so that the IC story is that it was named after the number. Not the OOC reason that it was called a key, and they later used the similarity to the number as an excuse. Wink
