Look at your CD image for to D'ni. It says on the left "requires Uru: ages beyond Myst"...
https://plus.google.com/104828884770118478513/posts

So the possible installations would be >>>>

1- Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

2- Uru ABM + To D'ni

3- Uru ABM + The Path of the Shell (To D'ni is included in The Path of The Shell)

4- Uru Complete Chronicles

5- Uru Live (MOULa)

6- + at least one or more possible Open Source shard(s)

Suggestion:
Create as many folders as needed in the main Program Files main folder with different names of your choice and direct the installation wizard(s) to each of them at time of installation(s).

Post Posted: Wed May 02, 2012 4:28 pm — Post subject: What I have learned fro trying.

I know your right! Embarassed Doh!

Here is what I have tried thus far and my results;
1- Installed Uru: Ages Beyond Myst (UABM) created 2 player names and played thru.

2- Installed Uru: To D'ni that installed into UABM game and I played the Player Avatars I made thru.
Later added a saved Player avatar file # number into the .sav folder and it played with additional game features.

3- Installed Uru: The Path of the Shell (Not CC PotS) and it installed into (over?) the UABM & TO D'NI installation.
I lost one of the Player Avatars from the installation: Noted: Uru ABM & UTD (To D'ni is included in The Path of The Shell)
Added a saved Player avatar file # number into the .sav folder and it worked.

4- Uru Complete Chronicles (UCC): Installation searches for copies of UABM & TO D'NI games and prompts you to delete them, if you want to install the UCC game. As of yet, unable to figure out how to hide the other formerly installed games from the UCC installation. (Tried Install of UCC into several other seperate program file paths)

5- Installation of: Uru Live (MOULa) has remained unaffected from the other game installs.

6- Uninstalled: Deep Island, TOC and Gehn Shards I uninstalled for later reinstallation.

I have sense reinstalled these games using different Ubi Soft (Ubi Soft / Ubi-Soft / UBISOFT) program names for each game installation. Along with the use and non use of the Cyan Worlds file folder. The results were the same.
They somehow merge and detect one another and become connected, as their file information crosses over or appears in the others location.
The desktop Launch Icon gets replaced with each new installtion of that game.
Tried to Copy/Paste each games launch Icon for each onto the desk top, but it failed to work.
However, I did discover you could launch seperate games using their setup file launch from within the games files.
Installing all 4 games or even 2 with UCC is beyond my knowledge and skill sets to do.
Unless someone who knows posts the information here, then I'll just keep at it with looking around and trial & error methods.

I was trying to recreate the game conditions I believe I had when I played the one with the extra features I Posted about. Back in those days, I believe had been helped with having them all installed and playing separately.

I have also been experimenting with installing saved avatar names into the various Games that I did get installed and running.
If you put the avatar save file number into the .sav folder it will show up in the drop down menu of the game you launched that allows you to chose which player to play. However, if the avatar is from another game like, UABM game with a PotS avatar save folder number, it won't play and will prompt you for that games CD.

NOTE: Since each games require’s the CD for it to be played, what ever avatar player save file you chose will play, if you put in the CD for it and if that game version installation exists on your hard drive.
It's not like you install the game, take out the installation game CD and can then play any one of them by just launching their desktop Icons.
Oh and I won’t even bother to post about how all my desktop icon game launch experiments, other than to say they went Nowhere! What a mess!
You must have each games CD in your computer in order get that game to run to play it.

I had thought initially this would all take a few days for me to do.
Get a copy of each game installed and test my avatar file number saves in each.
I can see now that I may never be able to reproduce the proof necessary.
I presumptiously thought that I could simply rebuild the same game platform conditions, since I had all the game CD’s and patch files.
What I hadn’t considered, was all the technical support fixes and down loads available to us all at that time to fix and get those games working.

I had resigned myself to perhaps just install my UCC PotS game and play thru and test what ever avatar player file numbers I could find to see what it had and maybe discover those features again.
But 2 long installation attempts got me this; CRC error: C:\ Program Files\Ubi-Soft\dat\Bahrocave02_District_Cave.prp doesn’t match setup’s . Cab file. "I hit the retry button a zillion times", but in the end had to hit ignore to continue the installation both times.
I started playing thru my 2nd installation game and in Er’cana Age when I tried linking thru the bahro cave stone link by the pellet machine, I crashed and got another error message. Shocked "game files corrupted try reinstalling the game" Rolling Eyes SHEESH!
I’m probably more persistent than most people are and I’m not saying I’m giving up yet. But this is and will no doubts take some considerable time to work out.

Before trying to install Uru Complete Chronicles, I suggested to rename all other versions. Do not use the words Ubisoft, Uru or anything related. Be creative. If you cannot find something that you will remember, use different #s instead of ubisoft. Do not use spaces or slaches, just plain numbers and write the infos on a piece of paper or in a document (like Word Pad) so you will know for what game version they stand for.

I supect that your cds might need to be cleaned. I will come back with cleaning instructions in a few minutes.

Assuming that you haven't had problems reading any other DVD's, you may have a DVD disc-read problem with a CD or DVD. Disc read problems can be due to:
-- A disc that needs cleaning.
-- Disc drive laser lenses that need cleaning.
-- A disc that has scratches. If your disc(s) has many and/or deep scratches, remove the scratches (especially those deep enough to catch a fingernail) using one of the repair kits available from a local computer store or from an Internet supplier.

1. Your CD or DVD could have developed a haze coating if you:
-- Live in a dusty area.
-- Have a smoker in the house or where you use the PC.
-- Do *not* have a hood over your kitchen stove or cooktop that vents outside the house.
-- Use burning-candle or plugin (oil-dispersing) room deodorizers anywhere in the house.
-- Have stored your CD/DVD in temperatures above about 90 degrees F.

This haze can be invisible to the naked eye, but it's not invisible to your disc drive and could be what's interfering with disc reads. (This is especially true if a drive is more than about 3 years old, since read lasers tend to weaken with time. That by itself can lead to disc read problems - even without a haze. The only fix for a weak read laser is a new drive, BTW.)

The first thing to do is try to get rid of any haze on the CD/DVD. Clean the shiny side of the disc using a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with either:
-- Water-clear rubbing alcohol - additive-free, no witch hazel or whatever, no green or blue color.
-- A warm mild dishwashing (*NOT* dishwasher) detergent solution.

Clean with either alcohol or detergent solution using a center-outward motion, NOT circular around the disc.

Instead of allowing the disc to air-dry, manually dry it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Dry with a center-outward motion, NOT circular around the disc.

There've been posts saying that disc cleaning sometimes requires multiple applications of alcohol and/or dishwashing detergent solution, along with a good bit of "elbow grease" or "scrubbing" while applying the solution. You might also try that sort of thing, being careful to use clean, soft cloths for both application of cleaning solution and drying the disc between solution applications. (Don't let the disc air-dry!)

2. Disc read problems can also be due to a disc drive's laser lenses developing a film/haze coating over time (with or without the contribution of weakening read lasers). Again, the haze can be from your living in a dusty area, having a smoker in the house or where you use the PC, etc.

The fix is using a laser lens cleaning disc. This is essentially a disc with tiny brushes on it that take the haze off of the lenses. The best ones (especially for smokers, non-hooders, and candle burners/oilers) come with a cleaning solution used to wet the brushes, but this isn't a strict requirement. The first time you use the disc, run the cleaning cycle at least 3 times in succession.

I use the 3M Scotch Laser Lens Cleaner, but several brands are available. Some are for both CD and DVD drives, some for CD only or DVD only. There are various suppliers, both online and local computer stores. From Amazon, for example:
-- Scotch Laser Lens Cleaner for CD and DVD Players/CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Drives
-- Memorex CD/DVD-Player Laser-Lens Cleaner
-- Memorex Laser Lens Cleaner For DVD Only
-- RCA Discwasher 6-Brush Dry CD/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner
-- GE Laser Lens Cleaner Wet/Dry System

Post Posted: Thu May 03, 2012 5:41 am — Post subject: Clean CD's DOH!

Arctic_Wagon, Thanx for the simple solution to my UCC installation problem!
Cleaned both CD's and got a clean UCC installation. Very Happy Sometimes we miss the obvious! Rolling Eyes

NOTES: Building Game Knowledge Content of Single Uru Game Playing Version;
Ubi Soft Forum: Heidall_G Posted

Game Play Version: Original -
Uru: Ages Beyond Myst and a v1.2 Patch 03.24.04 [19.6 MB]
Patch http://ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=86
-- Expansion Pack 1 is To D'ni.
-- Expansion Pack 2 is Myst Uru: The Path of the Shell (PotS).

If I'm understanding everything correctly then;
1st Game play Version: Was Original - Uru: Ages Beyond Myst and a v1.2 Patch
-- Expansion Pack 1 is To D'ni. Note: I got the Cyan FREE CD of.
-- Expansion Pack 2 is Myst Uru: The Path of the Shell (PotS). Here is what I need to locate!

Also looking for and if there is an available download of the Expansion Pack 2 is Myst Uru: The Path of the Shell (PotS) anywhere online.

I miss took my MYST URU Path of the Shell CD for the Expansion Pack 2 Path of the Shell.

2nd Game play Version: Box Release MYST URU The Path of the Shell included Uru Ages Beyond Myst & TO D’Ni Expansion Pack.

3rd Game Play Version: Myst Uru: The Complete Chronicles The Path of the Shell 2 CD set.

So. . . there are 3 single stand alone game versions that can be played.
This means there are 3 game versions I need to get installed and working.

I created a new program folder "My URU Games" and loaded Myst Uru: The Complete Chronicles The Path of the Shell.
Appears not to have deleted the other games when prompted to do in order to do the install.

I have the Original UABM game loaded into Programs\ Ubi Soft and the UABM & TO D'NI game into Programs\ UBISOFT

Still working on fixing their Launch Icons though. And from what I read in the Ubi Soft Forum, it's important to run the games from their desktop Launch Icons. Altho, if they install the same as UCC did, then I could Uninstall them and reinstall them with the correct Icon launch Folder path typed in.

My best Guess now is that the content was most likely in the original game and 2 Expansion Packs.
I will focus on getting a working version of them up and running before continuing on with the other 2 version games.

P. S. I had thrown out one of my old flash drives that stopped working and I only hope the 2 Expansion pack and stuff wasn't on it! Crying or Very sad Sheesh!

I appreciate the Support Arctic_Wagon Jahmen Myst

Think you may be a bit off.

There was:

Uru: Ages Beyond Myst [Boxed CD]
Uru: Ages Beyond Myst 1.2 [Free download patch]
Uru: To Dni [Free download/cd expansion]
Uru: The Path of the Shell [Boxed CD expansion that included To Dni and 1.2 patch, did NOT have Ages Beyond Myst included]
Uru: Complete Chronicles [Boxed (2) CD that included Ages Beyond Myst, To Dni, 1.2 Patch, and The Path of the Shell]

Don't see how, your Path of the Shell CD is the Expansion Pack 2 Path of the Shell.

In my mind, this thread is known as the "Jahmen Saga". Laughing

Suggestion: if you still have problems with your installation(s), lets solve one problem at a time because your logic is unique and you are, "sometimes", a bit hard to follow.

Neereus was right when he said you seam to be also a bit overwhelmed. Laughing

Quotes from the expert Heimdall G. at the Ubi site for one of your version from here...
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/103206-Uru-When-to-Apply-the-Version-1-2-Patch

Quote:

1- Everything PotS needs to run is contained in its install code, including anything appropriate from the patch. In some cases, patching Uru: ABM can cause problems with PotS installations. (if the patch is installed before PotS)

2- Therefore, if you intend to install PotS, do so immediately after installing Uru: ABM and without applying the patch.

Post Posted: Wed May 16, 2012 8:11 pm — Post subject: Overwhelmed!

Yep! I am somewhat overwhelmed with taking on finding that old game content.
I have learned a lot from searching Ubisoft forum and other forums.
The helpful posts of others information and the feedback has been incredibly helpful to my sorting it all out better in my mind.
Thank you for putting my confusing and grammatically challenging way of posting and expressing my thoughts as unique logic. Shocked
I have managed to get clean installs to all of the game versions as posted in the thread here.
And I have been playing through them all very slowly as time allows.
Didn't really expect to find unique content in the first 2 game versions.
1. I have played thru Original: (UABM) Uru Ages Beyond Myst content.
2. The UABM & TO D’NI combined content.
I'm fairly sure the unique content was with game versions having the time ball puzzle in it.
3. The Path of the Shell first boxset game started. New Avatar
4. The Complete Chronicles PotS game started. New Avatar
Additionally: Been testing out loading old saved avatar game files into the games to see how they work and what I can find out.
Note: The game versions have different locations on the bookshelf for the bevin book and if I load my sav. Avatar file of one game into the other game, both bevin books appear.
If you try to use one or the other bevin book, the game locks up.
Even with the use of my old games notes, I am still having some trouble with getting the Ahnonay Age and The Watchers Sanctuary time ball puzzle done.
AND I am doing this between my MOUL,a Jahmen's Quests Series I have been building to completion and running in MOUL,a.
ALONG with building my Planet Dragonia website content for my Open Source Story Age I wrote and the Quest Series help page.
Spent a week of hours scanning all my Myst Game notes and map drawings into jpeg files and trying to sort them out in my Google Picasa web by creating individual albums for each of the Ages and create a link to eack on my website.
Then realized I also have the other single games game notes to scan with Ages, so . . .

AND I am in the middle of changing to a new Host to my my websites and have new host so recreate the content for much of it because of the differences in tools and template formats.

Rolling Eyes Then there is MY REAL LIFE business of Real Estate, Apartment Management and ebay.

Neereus Post: Yes, you have the correct order of the games versions listed right.
NOTE: I edited my first post on Page 1 of the thread here with update info and explanations to what I found.

Post Posted: Thu Nov 29, 2012 5:30 pm — Post subject: Haven't forgotten!

Trouble with finding anything of proof I might have boils down to time. I have 2 hard drives left and the one hard drive it was likely on I threw out!
Which has me bummed out to know end everytime I think about it!
So I would need to reconnect/ hardwire those old drives back into my old computer .
And that would mean finding and re-reading their manuals to make sure the jumpers are set right and compatibility issues worked out. Don't want to fry or mess up my old computer and loss what little esle MOUL I have on it.
Talking about old serial connections and hmm STATA well . . any ways. . . .
Physically put each one into my old computer though newer to those hard drives and look if anythings on them.
Didn't find anything in NC warehouse storage, but didn't have much time to reaaly do an extensive look around either.
Time is something I simply don't have enough of to do the things I must and need to do, let alone for this.
I will just have to eventually find the time. Maybe before end of year?

You could buy an external enclosure for that harddisk (or several). They are relatively cheap, eather IDE or SATA.Check if you have the right kind of USB,(2 or 3)
If you are lucky the jumper info is printed on the drive.

Oh come on.... Not this dog crap again. Can we get a lock because of thread necromancy? It's obvious this special version of the games never existed and is merely the figment of an overactive imagination.

I have to agree with AdamJohnso.

I'm not going to guess at Jahmen's motives here, but the version he is claiming to recall does not exist in any form released to the public, and it isn't right to raise the community's hopes for something new with false information.
