Wow, that's a long time ago. I do remember I couldn't figure out what to do with the marker switches. I even abandoned the game at some point. Then after some weeks I decided to really go for it, and as soon as I had access to the keys, I played through it fairly quickly. But really no idea how quickly, now.

Later I borrowed Riven from a colleague at work, and played through that in one zoned-out marathon session over the weekend... Those were the days.

My very first computer was a Mac (6200CD, IIRC), and when a friend of mine and I heard about Myst, circa 1993, we naturally had to check it out.

I finished it in about a month. I don't know if he ever finished it.

Riven, on the other hand, took me about 3 years, especially since I was busy with work and college at that time. I only solved it because I had one of those "Why didn't I see this before?" moments.

less then a day about 16 hours non stop

going to date myself here i was a big fan of zork started with zork 1 and was hooked. how may can say they remember them. i would stay up all night playing so when myst came out i was hooked i could not stop playing every time i got pass a puzzle i had to go find the next one.
